Nice job, Ryo:). About advanced guides, you could simply title the next one "Things Ryoken would do in hypothetical situations".

The problem is simple. Casluerj is onto it. Kudos!

I dont make the claim of being the "BEST" of anything on this board. Maybe I am the best "guide-maker" or something. However, in every guide I always put clauses "this is my opinion" or "other people may do this differently" and so on. I do this because I am humble. I have faults. I am human. This doesnt bother me.

For example, one of my biggest problem is adrenaline. When I am surprised by an attack on my country OR I am launching a massive risky attack; my body sends a massive shot of adrenaline through me. I dunno if other people experience this or not, but I do. It causes me to make mistakes. Mistakes that I would not make otherwise, but I am under pressure and my heart is racing. Hey, I am human.

But there are people on this board who believe they are living gods, essentially. Anything I post, they will criticize as being wrong. Because if someone ELSE is credited with good work, they will have a harder time justifying their own greatness to themselves.

Some people live to criticize because they have nothing to say on their own. Agree with me or dont. But no one can blame me for not having a position or not publishing my views openly and unabashedly. That cannot be said for everyone in here.

EDIT: I am drawing a distinction here between constructive criticism and spiteful criticism, just to clarify.

ROFLMFAO...... that is hilarious

Seriously though, I dont think an advanced tactics guide would be useful. Lets say I wrote a guide about how to succeed as Austria. Well, who is the Ottoman player? Is he agressive? Is he peaceful? Can he reach a solid deal regarding hungary? Is there a Polish player? Is there a Brandenburg player? Is there a Venice player? Who is France? Who is Spain? Who is Russia? What are their personalities?

There are just too many variables in play to ever be really specific about a particular instance. It is very rare that a particular tactic is ALWAYS effective because the enemy will adapt to it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share some of your experience and Eu2 wisdom, Ryo. It doesn't even have to be perfect to be helpful - for new players like myself guides like this are priceless! Hopefully some other experienced players will follow your lead and post some of their strategic thoughts, for the benefit of new players and the long term health of the community. Keep up the good work.

Yes adrenalin is a big problem, especially when Caslucifer send too much money to Austria whom I'm attacking :), especially afrter he told me quote "I'm swearing to help you (France) against Austria when I will grow strong, just help me now"!!!

Seconded! :) It is easy to criticise but it is very hard to write something usefull. Many people on this forum know a lot but they have no intention or no writing capability to write anything usefull. Not only on this forum - generally speaking there are many experts in many fields that simply don't know how to pass knowledge to others. Gift for writing is a rare one!

Depending on the date, I would say that its better to create a guide to Poland survive Russia, even when Russia is crt down.

Also even in the beggining, Russian winter and MP can do the job and not lose to Poland easily... and depending on the players even win. ;)

Austrian situation is more complex since it would need to bring Spain to fight France and maybe Russia/Poland/Persia to fight against OE. If the Archduke can do that then it isnt that hard too.

Yes, I agree - Caslu can u post something about that?? :D

Btw, for those who haven't seen EGA one short explanation would be that Caslu's neighbours have a bad habbit of dissapearing. Bad neighbours, bad neighbours!!!

Something that you will learn soon is that diplomacy is fluid. Circunstances changes all the time. When I said that our game even hadnt begin yet. I reall thought (and think) that France could be a good ally to Russia, but you prefered to be at BB's and England's sides... I had no choice.

But this isnt the best place to discuss our game ;)

Other thing that you must know. EU2 is a war game. Eu2 MP still is a war game. Sweden and Poland did bad in diplomacy and especially on the battle field... what can I do? And BTW, both were partioned... Russia didnt take the spoils alone... (Denmark in Swedish case and BB,Austria and OE in Polish case).

But plz let not discuss this here. Isnt the best place.

Yeah, lets keep the discussion of the tendency of Casleurj's neighbors to disappear out of this thread. Feel free to start one though, could be interesting reading :D

Only a handful of brave souls have done it. The only one that was very successful, iirc, was Damo and Dukey's Guide.

Damo quit after people kept being assholes.

Dunno why Duke quit. He is still active in other venues and I talk to him frequently on ICQ.

He is decently active on Imperium Romanorum (check my sig link)

Honestly I didn't want to dicuss it here actually, I was hoping to see your grand strategy for Poland's survival HERE!!! It would be interesting and you brought the subject yourself ;). I was only explaining why you should really write it HERE :).

Btw, you really did good in all your games and you shouldn't appologise for that. I tease you because.... because you react to my teasing, that's all... Anyway when u make a great country you become popular in a negative way. Take it with humor. ;) You should start writing about strategy, instead of wasting time to explain that you are nice guy which you are. Instead of some reply about which thread is for what I expect applied Caslus Grand Strategy for Russia or Poland next time I log on to this thread. Kind of universal strategy with examples from your application and consolidifed with very short version of your AAR. If u want to write about Poland it will be fine with me but I would prefer Russian strategy. Your Russian strategy. If you are not afraid of sharing secrets, of course ;). (Why do I expect to see reply that you have no time for this  or any other excuse  )

I must appologise to other players but Caslu is one of the best I have seen and his countries are real mosters. Since he proposed it, I think it would really be nice if he decided to share his expiriences and achievements with us. SINCE this IS a thread about strategy and a thread MADE FOR me, I would like to see more bragging here and something similar from anyone who has a wish to share his expirience, strategy and achievements. If, for any reason, it can't be written here, I would like to open a Thread of Glory with the actual alternative histories, applied strategies, numbers, screenies and a lot of bragging.

Come on, restrain your fears and show us what you are capable of :D.

With deepest respect to all of the veterans and EU Gods,
Nabukodonosor

I work at morning and study at night during the weekdays and during the weekend I want to rest and go out. Also I dont have Ryo's (and others good ones too) capacity as a writer. A Cas' guide would suck, trust me... (and my english sucks too :))

Heck, he should write a guide to how to survive an attack from Austria and Brandenburg in alliance as Turkey in the 1680's, then read it and use it himself.
