Russian troops in Sweden 1743-44

After the Swedish pathetic attempt to retake areas lost to Russia in the great nordic war Russian troops were placed in Sweden to 'protect' us against the danes. Did this have any longterm effects that we can se today (except that there is russian blood in a few of us)? e.g. did any Swedsih farmers convert to orthodox? Did any places got names from the episode or from russian soldiers?

Probably not, I just know there is a ryssby not too far from Kalmar, i think.. it must have something to do with russians.. i think

"Ryssby" has nothing to do with the russian. the word "ryss" mean
clearing (röja röjning)

I think that there aren't many traces of the Russian troops to be found in present-day Sweden, but it's believed that many Swedish women married Russian soldiers and left for Russia when the troops went home.

BTW I don't live too far away from Ryssby and as Adler said the name hasn't much to do with Russians.

I don´t think it was more than 10 000 russians in sweden, and they were concentrated into some camps separated from the swedes, I think but I´m not sure...

Havn't heard of that...
The only thing i know of russian soldiers in Sweden is the havoc they wreaked in roslagen
Are almost no houses older than 1719 there... where i lived i think there were 2 or 3 houses...
