so as you are playing russia, would there be a civil war that turns the country into USSR? does it happen by event? the red army would have to be pretty strong to take over a country as strong as russia.

No, he's asking do you get to play it, or is it handled by events.

I can't answer precisely as this is still being worked on.
For now we have some kind of database for the Civil War. Russian players can witness the Revolution process if certain conditions are met. However there is no specific battlescenario planned atm.
Of course we will be looking forward to expanding this after release, especially if there are some modders interested. This is just a matter of DB research.

battle scenarios are cheap, i'm asking about the event, and how it can happen, and do you get to choose sides by event, like switching from russia in 1914, and when the revolution starts switch to USSR

There shouldn't be any deterministic events like "Miracle on the Vistula", but what should be there are events taking into consideration the political structure of the USSR military (ex: Stalin diverting his forces to take Lvov - perhaps dissent or just incorporating the disloyalty of leaders system), and additionally the tech system should give Poland an advantage in intelligence (they had broken the Soviet ciphers), among other things.
However, the hardest part would be the consideration of millions of possible outcomes resulting in alternate timelines. It was by no means guaranteed that the Soviets would advance to the Vistula in the first place; the Poles captured Kiev initially but were defeated after overextension of their forces. And the Czech Legion required a multitude of events to all occur. They had to be created at the start of the war in the first place. There had to be the Treaty of Brest-Litvosk, and the Czechs had to wish to travel to the Western Front and continue fighting. And the Soviets had to have their western ports and transit paths all blocked, for the Czechs to travel east by the Trans-Siberian Railroad. What if the Ottomans had been defeated by this point already, Gallipolli had been a victory, and hence they traveled via the Black Sea by French/British ships instead? What if Japan had joined the Axis and taken Vladivostak (more unlikely, yes, but still plausible.) What if the USSR refused to give into German pressure and did not attempt to disarm the Czech Legion? Et cetra et cetra. I have no answers to these questions, but I can imagine it would b a major major reason for the limited timeline, as the game diverges more and more from reality.

Don't get your hopes up, the game is about world wars, not Russian Civil War.

Just wanted to point out that it still wasn't the USSR during the Civil War
RSFSR + Puppet SSRs... Might never become the USSR if events allow a Trotskyist or Bukharinist supremacy
