I have seen (and have but cant upload sorry:confused: ) Kiev, Polozk, Pereyaslavl, Tourov-Pinsk, Galicia-Volynia and Novgorod-Seversk. If you go to the sticky shield/flag sites and look in Sylvan d'anjou, le-retour and birger-jarl you should find them there.

yours

PS (I do not have a web-site so I cannot throw up the ones I have, but I got them from those sites I mentioned). if you cannot find them there just check out the other sites listed.

None of them is historically correct, good job though. :)

Here's Galicia, http://www.heraldica.org/topics/national/galicia.htm
hali.gif

The name Galicia was derived from Rusyn/Ukrainian name Halychina. This is the area that is roughly the Eastern Malopolska that was a Rus' principality in roughly 1200-1400 AD (Halychina-Wolyn'). The name of the principality is in turn derived from the name of its capital city -- Halych.

The coat of arms of Halych and of Halychina is: Argent, a bird sable crowned and taloned or. The name of the particular bird in the local tongue is "halka". It might be the case that the arms are canting, but, again, this suggests the local Slavic derivation of the name.

The Kiev arms looked like this, not sure about the colors but I think that the archangel should be white.

Wasn't that used much later? There was a trident for Kievan Rus, which I think would be more apropriate for that time. Dunno thought.

I guess you can use either one, but the archangel would be more appropiate.

The oldest examples of the trident discovered by archaeologists on Ukrainian territory date back to the 1st century AD. At that time the trident probably served as a symbol of power in one of the tribes that later became part of the Ukrainian people. The trident was stamped on the gold and silver coins issued by Prince Volodymyr the Great (980-1015), who perhaps inherited the symbol from his ancestors as a dynastic coat of arms and passed it on to his sons, Sviatopolk I (1015-19) and Yaroslav the Wise (1019-54). Iziaslav Yaroslavych (1054-78), Sviatopolk II Iziaslavych (1093-1113), and Lev Danylovych (1264-1301) used the bident (two prongs) as their coat of arms. Although the trident continued to be used by some ruling families as a dynastic coat of arms until the 15th century, it was replaced as a state emblem in the 12th century with the Archangel Michael.

Well, if you wait until tonight, you can download the Mongol Empire Scenario, where all these graphics appear ;) All the countries you're looking for, Yoghurt, are in the scenario. But as it covers 1150-1419, I don't know if the shields will be ok for you (?)

Unfortunately we have not uploaded the shiedls & flags to some webspace. (they're not in my webpage yet)

Maybe OT, but I always wondered where the 'trident' came from...found this on FOTW...
During one of my trips I met an old professor, Ukrainian, who told me his explanation. Pay attention that this "Trident" does not look like typical Neptune's trident. Its shape is a little bit different, a little bit strange. This professor told me that this is "A SHADOW OF THE HAWK". And everything became clear to me!
In the common Polish and Ukrainian tradition, Polish were called as "Eagles" and Ukrainians as "Hawks". Hawk was the symbol of the zaporozhian Cossacks, a symbol of freedom during the war against Polish in the XVII century. In many Ukrainians songs there is the hawk as a synonym of free Cossack.

interesting...

For some reason I can't get back over to FOTW and check. Says their server is down?? But, at any rate, it was in the random melee of posts on the Ukrainian arms page. I wouldn't take it as gospel, as no one really knows where the trident originated from. It was just interesting, in that everyone always assumes it's a trident. It kind of looks like a swooping hawk??

Ok, I thought you quoted it from someone on the forum:rolleyes::p

Yeah, I like the idea. The Kievan Trident was probably a little different then.:)
