Well, my GC as Novogorod/Russia is going swimmingly, as I hit the half-way mark in the 18th century, so I decide to check when I'm going to get CB's on the Crimea. I'm not too impatient, as the Crimeans are my vassals, so the area is under watch, but I'd like to know anyway. Low and behold there are no events granting CB's to Russia in the Crimea!

Needless to say I was a bit surprised and disappointed, hoping beyond hope they were hidden somewhere in the event files. Why is this? Russia occuppied the area in the late 18th century (1774), and held it from then on. The issue of a Black Sea port was a major one for Catherine the Great, and I'm surprised that such a policy did not make it into the game.

As I know, new events won't be modeled for the regular GC, but the solution I propose is simple enough: add the four Crimean cores (Crimea, Azov, Kouban, Kaffa, Kerch, and Kalmuk) to the 1st Polish Partition event. With the elimination of the Poles as an eastern power, and the semi-alliance with Prussia and Austria, the claims on the Crimea become more legitimate. True, the Crimea is not directly related to Poland, but with the free reign given in the partition who's to stop Russia from gaining its Black Sea port?

Here's the event for Russia, with the add-ins asterixed:

PHP:
 #The Partition of Poland#	#1st#
event = {

	id = 3440				#Triggered by POL3499#
	random = no
	country = RUS
	name = "EVENTNAME3440"
	desc = "EVENTHIST3440"
	style = 4

	action_a ={ #Poland is trying to reform and it must be stopped#
		name = "ACTIONNAME3440A"
		command = { type = casusbelli which = POL value = 60 }
		command = { type = relation which = POL value = -150 }
		command = { type = stability value = 3 }
		command = { type = treasury  value = 250 }

                                *command = { type = addcore which = 463 }
                                *command = { type = addcore which = 464 }

                                *command = { type = addcore which = 468 }
	}
}

I'm inclining towards using the 2nd PP event for this purpose. The 1st one is too early (although the second one is later than the historical occupation date, it's not unreasonable for it to become a core after it was occupied), and the extra cores are more geographically contiguous with the ones granted in the 2nd one (461 and 462).

Anyone else have any input on this one?

I was thiking the First Partition because it happened (historically) in 1772, but you're right, the event can fire in 1764, which would be a decade early. 1789 is not too late; as they say, better late than never.

About Russia and its core shields I always wonder if there are any reasons for Khakaks and Ukbeck's ones.
AFAIK Russia conquered those land only in XIX century.

I know for sure that they didn't capture the Uzbehk's land until the 1800's, but I think they captured some of the Northern Kazakhs a bit earlier...

Appreciate it if you can start a new thread on this, with details of what provinces are involved, if it's agreed it needs looking at. Thx.

Thanks AndrewT. I think Russia might need the cores for the same territories in the 1795 scneario as well. Hope I don't seem pushy here:D

OK, done. Thx.
