Well, my GC as Novogorod/Russia is going swimmingly, as I hit the half-way mark in the 18th century, so I decide to check when I'm going to get CB's on the Crimea. I'm not too impatient, as the Crimeans are my vassals, so the area is under watch, but I'd like to know anyway. Low and behold there are no events granting CB's to Russia in the Crimea!
Needless to say I was a bit surprised and disappointed, hoping beyond hope they were hidden somewhere in the event files. Why is this? Russia occuppied the area in the late 18th century (1774), and held it from then on. The issue of a Black Sea port was a major one for Catherine the Great, and I'm surprised that such a policy did not make it into the game.
As I know, new events won't be modeled for the regular GC, but the solution I propose is simple enough: add the four Crimean cores (Crimea, Azov, Kouban, Kaffa, Kerch, and Kalmuk) to the 1st Polish Partition event. With the elimination of the Poles as an eastern power, and the semi-alliance with Prussia and Austria, the claims on the Crimea become more legitimate. True, the Crimea is not directly related to Poland, but with the free reign given in the partition who's to stop Russia from gaining its Black Sea port?
Here's the event for Russia, with the add-ins asterixed:
