New player here. Russia, 1550, and I am proceeding with incorporating Central Asia. Problem: Terra Incognita. Without taking Exploration, how do I lift it? I know about the Siberian national idea, but that's kind of slow and limited. I am even in the absurd position of having a vassal (Nogai) that is partially hidden from me. I also was thinking about sending a couple armies east to annex Manchu & colonize from both directions, but can't get there. Any ideas?

Your provinces will slowly reveal surrounding provinces and sea zones, and you can go through the Terra Incognito in countries you are at war with, even if you do not have a conquistador.

I think around the year 1592, basically all of Asia will be revealed for you. Prior to then, its just a matter of going to war to expand your vision unfortunately.

Your armies can explore Terra Incognita without a Conquistador if you are at war with the owner of the province you're trying to move your armies into.

Obviously it's kind of a tactical nightmare unless you outclass your enemy because it takes the extended 'we're exploring this now' amount of time to move, only during a war and you don't get to see the 30-man stack waiting for you nor that you're about to assault a mountain province. But sometimes it's worth it.

Edit: Ninjad, that'll teach me to be slow to compose...
