Russia 1572

So ... as I've said in other threads, a newer player here, about 2 weeks in. After aborted games as Castille/Spain, France, and Denmark, my first serious game is Muscovy/Russia. The following is my Empire in 1572:



Not saying it is all that impressive - not iron man, and Muscovy is easy. But for a new player, not bad I think. Much appreciation for advice on this forum that made it possible.

Now faced with an AE coalition, and struggling with the diplo limit. But future plans are the Balkans and central Asia, then switching back to the Baltic. Then finish off the Ottomans, take on Hungry, and more expansion is central Asia and perhaps east Asia (Manchu). Long, long range plans: take on the HRE and take India.

If you're having trouble with the diplo limit, annex a couple of vassals

Oh, I annex my vassals regularly. Haven't kept track, but probably have annexed at least a dozen (edit - more than that, actually, probably closer to two dozen). But several factors - the 10 year limit, the hit you take to relations with other vassals when you annex a vassal, and the initial low relations when you vassalize by force - all conspire to limit the rate at which I can annex them. Also some vassals I don't want to annex until I feed them more provinces. Anyway, currently I am annexing Riga; next on the list are Nogai and Crimea. As those three are annexed, most likely they will be replaced by Bosnia (peacefully), Bulgari and Candar (not peacefully).

I found as the OE that if you keep hitting on religion then you won't really piss off the others.

So if you can focus on on side of the world and then switch back, this way you can expand quickly and not get the AE issues as much.
