I have a save file that crashed every time I get to September 16, 1119. all of the previous autosaves of that game also crash at that date with this message:
(Window name): Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program... (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II\ck2.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

I am running two mods, VIET and PB, both of which worked fine for the first 53 years, so I'm inclined to say it wasn't them.
I checked the cache with Steam. It said that two files weren't valid, so it redownloaded them. Same problem.
I can't seem to figure this one out, please help.

Hi crazyzulu,

I've seen the error a couple of times, could you try a full clean installation?

Important: Go to '..\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\save games\' and copy all the save games you want to keep outside the folder
* Go to your Steam Games library, right click on "Crusader Kings II" and select "Delete content"
* Go to the steam installation folder at '..\Steam\SteamApps\common\', and check if the Crusader Kings II folder is removed. If not, delete the entire folder
* Go to '..\My Documents\Paradox Interactive\' and remove the entire Crusader Kings II folder
* Install the game, make sure you install the game outside the 'C:\Program Files\' or 'C:\Program Files (x86)\' folders, as it can cause issues with permissions

I found a temporary solution in which I switch to another character until September 16 passes. It worked. IF it crashes again, I will definitely try what you said, because I think this may just be temporary. I'll give it a couple of years. If it doesn't crash again for say, two years, I'll consider it fixed. Thank you very much.

I just had exactly the same thing happen to me. The game would crash every time at exactly the same date, August 13, 1121. This would be true no matter which autosave file I loaded. I tried following the uninstall and reinstall instructions exactly, doing it twice, but same result... when the save files were loaded, it would always crash with exactly the same message you were getting at exactly the same date every time. So I tried your suggestion, crazyzulu, changing characters using the console just before that date, and then changing back after the date. It works wonders!

This solution should be noted for others that have the same problem.
