Runtime Error! Program:../Europa Universalis IV/eu4.exe, odd D/L size & eu4.exe v1.0

Hi

I can't launch the game.

I have just bought all the expansion packs for EU4. And have just relaunched. I get the message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error! Program:../Europa Universalis IV/eu4.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contect the application's support team for more information.


I noticed the D/L was only 662mb. Also the eu4.exe is v1.0.0.0.

Is that right?

I have tried all the usual shindigs.

Any idea? It was working fine up until my purchases of the DLC.

It was my machine!

I had to reinstall windows. Totally worth it though.

Is there any other way to fix this? I don't want to reinstall my whole pc.

For me this feature seems to be a sneaky conspiration of steam and a certain feature in EU4:
GoTo: C:\Users\Bruger\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV
open settings.txt in your favourite text editor
Make sure that the force_pow2_textures= is set to no as in

force_pow2_textures=no

I have been able to recreate the problem and fix it again in this way. Also this is not a problem in EU 4 if started outside steam.

I posted a reply in the other thread. I checked my settings.txt and it is already set as a no value for that line item. I appreciate the help though radiatoren.
