Running Terribly Slow

So I have a decently high performance laptop. I can play MMOs on high resolutions and any other new release game with no problem. Yet, in CK2 as time goes on the days go by slower and slower. This used to just happen after I took over more territory or after a few hundred years of gameplay. Now it seems to be happening almost every time I play the game. I have the trees turned off and have lowered the game to the lowest resolution, which is frustrating enough, and it still slows down. I have no idea why I can play any other game on high settings but this one seems to slow everything down.

Any other tips or advice?

So it's OK when you start a new game at an early date? What if you start a new game at a late date?

Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.
