Running Steam version w/o Steam client

I've got issues with Steam for a week (won't update or won't run at all). I've already contacted Steam support, alas, the first solution didn't work.

Is there a way for me to run my CKII without launching the Steam client?

yes just go to the directory of the game and double click the ck2 executable - there are 2 of them, one runs vanilla straight away & the other allows you to use mods.

C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Crusader Kings II/ckgame.exe
This will start the game laucher.

Where ever steam is located.

for CK2, you only need to run Steam once (at installation) then no longer (except for updating)
whether it logs your hours played while not running though... (some people don't really care about the hour counter anyway)

Yes, but the way described launches the vanilla, and I want to play with mods. How do I do it?

ck2game.exe opens the startup console.

ck2 simply launches the game.

That's how I have my desktop shortcut setup. I've logged something like 44 hours according to Steam, but have easily a couple hundred in game. I've never had a major problem starting up CK2.

You can also copy that dir and keep a particular release version. I do this at every new release so that I can play my old saves.

Does anyone know how to use DLC while doing this? Mine wont launch from steam so i run the direct game file and cant use ruler creator

Use ckiigame.exe so you get the launcher. Don't use the ckii.exe.
