Has anyone tried running FtG in Linux with Wine?
I would assume there would be no issues doing this as other Paradox games can be done.

but we do not support anything under linux os. if it runs it is very good, but if not we can do nothing for this. The low specifications of the game might allow it to run more easily though.

Wine version 1.1.32 in Fedora 12 (out in a few days). It works fine but I had to disable debug output to get it running at full speed by issuing WINEDEBUG=-all wine FTG.exe at the For The Glory install directory. My guess is that Ubuntu, openSUSE and Mandriva will work just as well...

Nice! I was going to test it myself, but I haven't gotten around to upgrading Ubuntu yet.

The game runs fine in Ubuntu 9.10 with wine 1.1.32.
The only thing is that music won't play(if there are any).
I'm running it it in full-screen, so it should work for you as well.

I was running the demo in Debian 5.0. I had sound, but no music, I could play full screen but I couldn't play windowed I fiddled around a bit (moving armies, changing sliders, looking in the different views) and everything seemed to work okay

Music works here, in Xubuntu. For me it's the windowed mode that doesn't run.
Windowed vs Full-screen
Because of the way wine works, you can have the whole windows "desktop" in a separate GNU/Linux window, so you don't really need the game's windowed to work in order to run the game in a window.
Consider that I took the screenshot above (where obviously there is a window on my linux desktop) by leaving the fullscreen option enabled in the game, but choosing through the wine configuration to have the windows desktop in its own separate window. The relevant wine option is called Emulate Virtual Desktop and in the screenshot above it was set to 1024x768 if I recall correctly.

The game crashes when I try to send a colonist. Anybody else experienced that ?
