  • Crusader Kings III Available Now!

The realm rejoices as Paradox Interactive announces the launch of Crusader Kings III, the latest entry in the publisher’s grand strategy role-playing game franchise. Yes. But there should still be a Dwarven Skald, right? Female Dwarves have Berserker and Skald. Male Dwarves have Runemaster and Skald. Or have I misunderstand something? (I should search the post). Then the description of Dwarves Skalds would be missing in the Diary.
Dwarven male: Runemaster
Dwarven female: Berserker
Two classes per race.

That is disappointing. Hopefully, if the game sells well enough, other class/race/gender combinations will be made available through DLCs or patches.

This is actually correct. For example, the humans have a male berserker and a female skald.

That's not really a good thing. It's even a big step backwards... Also, crossbows? It doesn't really fit with a "norse mythologic" world. Crossbows arrived in Scandinavia in the 1200s at the earliest, only attested in the 17th century, and at this time were used to hunt squirrels...

A turn-based RPG without hexes indicates a kind of Heroes of M&M game (perhaps more like Conquistador)... which is quite an over-represented genre. So I doubt 3 classes and so few skills (12 by classes? 20?) are enough. Even in Dragon Age Origins (2009) you had more choices and I don't think Runemaster will be an action RPG since it's turn based.

The more I read about this game, the less I'm eager to play it... I hope I'll be surprised. Banner Saga has also this kind of limits, but it is a very immersive game. I think the immersion is what will decide the fate of this game.

The game isn't Norse mythology 1:1. And there are 24 skills by class. Some of them have 5 levels. I you count the levels seperate you have 88 skills.

Svartalfheim is not in Scandinavia.

It doesn't really matter to me. Lots of classes * races combinations just means a whole lot more art assets without a really different gameplay.
And remember this game is not historical but mythological. I don't have any problem with elves using crossbows (although if they used gunpowder now we'd have a problem)

+1!

I see this like Heroes of Might and Magic, the gender of your character is largely irrelevant, but as a quick visual to remind you, "Oh, he's a ranger, and she's a druid"
