Gives a lot of permanent claims, can also keep the Ottoman government. Switch to Mughals later for more claims, then Russia, etc. Ottomans can be killed early with Mamluk help.

It's a bunch of claims and a free culture shift to the Uzbek group. This seems more suitable for Ming -> Timurids -> Mughals since you don't need to state and unstate a lot of territory.

isn't that bad, since it enables the Mamluk decision.

(it is also super helpful to have a decision that forces you into iqta regardless of religion too)

Legit this area has tons of possibilities now in terms of formables.

Persia / Timmy / Mamluks / Rum + much easier Mughals requirements.

Iqta is supposed to be Muslim-only though - how long do you have until you flip to Despotic Monarchy? Or do you mean it's specifically useful for doing a same-day switch to Mamluk government?

Its really that good in your opinion?

+missionary is really nice and the mil interaction is basically half of espionage idea group for free (and mil->dip+adm conversion is always valuable) but I'm still not seeing why it undisputably blows out the rest of the govts available.

I havent actually tried it outside of my console test.
Im not going to call it the best, there are a handful that can match it.
But depending on playstyle and/or campaign goal i forsee it being completely over the top.
If you are going full Humanist without Religious its obviously lousy.


1. Im highly unwilling to pay Dip for provinces so paying 50 Mil for years to decades of Diplomat time is very appealing.
2. It has TotF and a massive bonus for Conversion, +1 Dude + 1%. So just from your Government you can tank another 20% OE compared to the standard Despotic in most of your land.
3. If you make proper bordergore the Mil ability is almost like 10% extra RCC depending on your Religion.

Its not the best but imho thats the standard something has to match to be worth anything.
And if i go down the list then a good 20 dont reach that level.

Wait Timurids make you flip to Uzbek automatically? Uzbek? The only culture which can form both Mughals and Yuan? Oh god, that's so broken.

yeah the border gore = RCC is really attractive.

I really favor heavy humanist styles + Hindu nowadays so maybe that's why I didn't immediately see the promise.

I agree that most things are worst than despotic - you can just throw out every non-rev republic for example.

Ottoman govt gets best of 3 heir picks and unjustified (which depending on your affinity for religious...)
Mamluk +2 ADM and spiffy interactions
Prussia +3 MIL and isn't forced to C&C (though not government related I guess..) and -2 unrest.

Of course if you prioritize unrest reduction then Otto / Mamluk would actually score worse, but I prefer stateless for overextension tanking over doing it through raw unrest reduction.

I also rate Ottoman government over anything else since 1.20 because of unjustified demands which means you can do regular conquests and ignore Deus Vult, so you can get Humanist third group.

What's the point of same day switching to Mamluk govt if it requires Muslim also? I'm wondering if it's actually worth staying Sunni to keep Iqta for its 5% CCR and other bonuses, but probably not.

Ottoman govt only gives -10% UD. I've tried eating -60% UD with Otto + full Influence until Imperialism and it was still painful.

Feudal Theocracy is pretty broken but I think Persia is blocked from switching to any of the surround tags. 50 mil pts/5 years for free claims is ridiculous though.

I'm guessing the best path is still Rum -> Timurids -> Mughals starting from the Middle east, have not tried Ming -> Timurids.

If Ottomans weren't blocked from forming Rum they would obviously be the best choice. Mamluks need to spend a lot of mana to culture shift. Karaman/AQ both start with low dev. so not ideal. There are no tags that can be formed by Ottomans before Rum, Croatia/Romania are too out of the way/require too much mana. Blocked from Greece/Byzantium.

because iqta can't get consorts they are heavily vulnerable to regency.

regular monarchies can only get regencied by extreme unluck

ottomans / mamluks cannot be regencied at all afaik

So I've come up with two options.

AQ -> Rum-> Timurids -> Mughals (-> Mamluks -> Persia). The claims Feudal Theocracy gives aren't ideal for a WC but still save on UD. Coptic before 1550 would allow for an easy religious peace via declaring league war on day 1 and potential for emperor/PUs after. Staying Sunni keeps one of Ottoman govt/Feudal Theocracy/Mamluk govt. Coptic Mughals with Despotic Monarchy would probably be the best finisher.

Ottoman -> Russia -> England -> Revoke -> Mughals -> Whatever. Re-forming England is the only decision in the game that removes all provinces from the HRE even as emperor. There are two others that allow it but require conversion. Adding Ottoman + Russian provinces twice can probably revoke around 1500s. Can switch to any tag the rest of the game for more permanent claims, even ending as Yuan/Qing.
