How long does it take for the AI to decide to change their culture? I've played 200 years or so into that game, and I haven't noticed yet a single ruler acculturate themselves into the culture they rule over.

It annoys me. I realise nobility changed their culture and language at a much slower rate than ordinary people, but the changes still occurred. Aristocracy don't live in an absolute vacuum!

Is there any way I can speed things up on behalf of the AI? France has been ruled by Germans in Paris for 200 years, and Italy has been ruled by Frenchmen for the same period. The Frenchmen in Italy don't even have a single French province!

AI rulers never take the culture-conversion decision. Their culture will change only with the event meneth.0 in the file PB_culture.txt.

The MTTH is nominally 50 years, but it's actually 38 for counts, 100 for dukes, and 250 for kings and emperors--and it gets even longer depending on the ruler's age (×1.5 at age 20, ×2 at age 30, ×3 at age 40).

If you want more prevalent culture-changing, you could lower the event's MTTH (to, say, 25 or 10 years). Alternatively, you could allow the AI to take the culture-conversion decision in (convert_to_local_culture in conversion_decisions.txt: remove allow = { ai = no } and ai_will_do = { factor = 0 }), in which case there's a 1% chance (per month?) that any ruler will take the decision.

Out of interest is there a reason that AI is prevented from converting to local and liege's culture? I get that there are also events to convert rulers but there don't seem to be any thing that converts courtiers to either their ruler or provinces culture.

Wow, thanks Toa Kraka. That is very helpful. I really appreciate you typing that out. I'll see if it works.
I changed the MTTH from 600 months to 300. That means, an old King will take 250 years on average to change culture if I'm reading it correctly: (300x5[for being a King]x2[for being old]=3000)/12 = 250. Which still seems like a long time. But, I'll see how it works out.

It looks like this is an event players can get too? Brilliant! It will help me get into the game a lot more.
