Ruler Religion doesn't match state religion???

So i started up a game as Delhi and immediately lost to the rebels, resulting in my ruler changing to a dude with hindu religion. However, my state religion is still Sunni, and im still unable to change state religion away from Sunni. How does this make logical sense, what if any negative effects will it have, and how do i either change my state religion to Hindu or ruler religion back to Sunni.

I had been wondering if getting a ruler with a different religion to state religion would allow you to switch. I really think it should.

I think Delhi is supposed to break by rebels.

you start with pretender rebels. So that will change your ruler.
But if you want to change your religion you need religious rebels.

They don't have to match -- as it happened enough times in history.

There are no modifiers applied from this, but it does affect the events you get.
Unfortunately, they are not on the wiki yet, but you can check them directly at Europa Universalis IV/event/CultureandReligionEvents.txt.

Edit: There are only 23 events, but they are more elaborate in structure [due to new variables] and some can change religion.

This is definitely unintentional, the Lodi dynasty should give you a Sunni Afghan dynasty, it seems the statistics of the pretenders need modified.
