This. It's about 7 hours more untill they're back in action. Way, way too late over here for a workday.

I've still got the amazing CoA builder Measter made, but it woulda been so nice having it right there in the game *sigh*

I'd buy this if it wasn't for the fact that people have been asking for more details about the base functionality of the Ruler DLC since it was announced with nothing answered anywhere. This could be WAD for all we know.

It's the exact same options the game itself uses when randomly generating COAs.

The emblems you can put on the shield look pretty bad up close, maybe its just because you never really see them that close in game.

Which emblems are you talking about? The standard ones that came with the game? And how close do you really WANT to see them o_O

The emblems in the designer, some of them look kinda sloppy if you've got them large and centered when editing the CoA. The dragon, for example.

Oh wow, when this DLC was announced I thought to myself "blatant money grab, and a useless one at that". I don't understand the need for this DLC besides one point - editing the coat of arms. Oh, well at least I got a laugh from all of the rage on the forums.

Everything else you can already edit yourself, and it's EASY as PIE, for new games. (Savegames too, but longer file to go through and edit, and have to match names up)

Also, don't understand why DESIGNER is confused as EDITOR. It's for you to design new characters, not edit existing ones. The only legitimate complaint I see is the age bit. Perhaps they need to give character traits/education/points a balance, but do that without editing age. I can think of various ways to do that now.

I didn't get the DLC, as I've been playing with customized dynasties and characters since launch. Editing a text file doesn't require rocket science...

Now, if the designer was more comprehensive, and made everything easier so I could edit whatever I want with no limitations and thus was an EDITOR... then I might buy it.

Now if folks get this for MP reasons, to edit characters for mp games.. well then that I ... relatively understand. I've no idea how large the MP community is for this game.. I'd balance things out to say give Counts a higher amount of points they can place (and traits) without negative feedback, and then Dukes, and then Kings, and then Emperors. Simple... A brand new dynasty at the seat of an Empire.. well, unless your playing a modded game you're pretty much screwed by points. As you should be.

They advertised it as being able edit existing rulers. The limits are easily modifiable in defines.lua. Editing a text file is hard and you have to reference things, look at all the different files.

Sure the designer could have been better, I still think its nice to have for the few bluecoins it cost me...

I did notice one disturbing thing about it..

I tried it out for fun and took a danish ruler, when I asked it to random different dynesty names I got many normal names... But
After trying a few times it recommended Kusse <-- I was sure it was just a coincidence, but after trying a few times random more I saw it was very common as the pick... now people thats not from Denmark might think
Kusse has a nice ring to it, but in Danish its the word for the lower part of a woman so well... its abit disturbing.. I am thinking about making a aar about the adventures of Knud Kusse....

Ignorant much?

Btw. there are a lot of things you can't just edit in text files.

Also: Making a difference between editor and designer is a bit hair splitting. In fact it should be called editor and not designer, because you don't design a new charakter. You have to pick a charakter that exists and edit him (or re-design if you want <- but this only shows that differencing between those words is just for the sake of it). You are not creating a new one, because the old one is gone. So you edit them. I think it is pretty easy to understand.

Edit: Iam curious, what does Yvling mean?

as if the yvling was not distubing enough...

You know what else is annoying about the whole thing? You can only edit landed characters. Doesn't mesh at all with the concept of being a designer as opposed to editor. If you want to create your own character, well, you either have to create them already and give them a title, or just build one on top of an existing ruler, which is just... odd.

You know what else is annoying about the whole thing? You can only edit landed characters. Doesn't mesh at all with the concept of being a designer as opposed to editor. If you want to create your own character, well, you either have to create them already and give them a title, or just build one on top of an existing ruler, which is just... odd.

Well, did you want to start as a courtier?

Perhaps Paradox plans to flesh out this tool a little more?

If they were willing to expand it into an editor for saved games and letting you edit multiple characters, Id be willing to buy it for sure.

This. As it stands, I don't think this is worth $5. I might consider buying it if it's fixed (and I mean fixed, as right now it sounds atrociously useless), but I would be especially eager to buy it if they included these features.

Well, did you want to start as a courtier?

No, but I don't want to have to take an existing character *out* of the game to put one in. Which is what this designer forces you to do. Unless, of course, you go and script your own character. Which defeats much of the point of the designer.
