Ruler Designer Coat of Arms Not Working?

Sorry if this has been addressed before, I tried searching for it but couldn't seem to find anything. Every time I try to use ruler designer, I make a custom coat of arms but when I finish, it changes back to a light blue background and a purple wolf(?). Does anyone else experience this, and if so, does anyone know how to fix it? It's quite an obnoxious looking CoA.

Did you change the character religion after setting to COA?

Always change the coat of arms last. Religion changes will always overwrite coat of arms.

You were both right, I was definitely changing the religion after changing the coat of arms. Just tried changing the CoA last and it did the trick. Thanks!
