http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...certain-marriages-with-myself-as-a-Patrician/

As discussed in this thread, for some reason using the Ruler Designer on a Patrician causes this weird phenomena in game. When I go to arrange marriages, I cannot marry most women in the world. Sometimes, not even my own courtiers!

- Selecting my ruler first shows nobody in a court to marry, even if they are single women and I can afford the Bride Price.
- Selecting the woman first will not display myself in the list of people who can marry her, even when I am single. (Heirs and sons do show up, as well as courtiers)

Interestingly enough, at the beginning of the game in the 867 start, when I click the arrange marriage on my character's pane, the only eligible women are Irish women, or women in the court of my republic's patricians. Furthermore, after a few years, if my RD patrician needs a new wife, only noble women born after the start date show up in the list, in addition to the ones previously mentioned.

Others have reported that the normal default Patricians do have eligible women to marry, so I think it's something with custom Patricians specifically.

Also had this exact issue with the latest version of the game (2.3.3), as well as old versions down to and including 2.1.6. Is there any news on this issue or is it an intended feature of some kind?
To add more detail relevant to my experiences:
I am only experiencing it when starting at 867, at 1066 the marrige mechanics seem to work as intended. I cannot test it starting at 769, since I do not have the Charlemagne expansion.
Also worth noting is that the Ruler of the Republic (Venize in my experiments) does seem to be able to marry as normal in all start dates, it is only subordinate patricians that cannot be selected as described by OP.
So the conditions for this bug to appear seems to be:
- character created with Ruler Designer
- subordinate Patrician, not current ruler of the Republic
- start date 867

In future, I would recommend you making your own threads for bug reports rather than appending them to threads 15 months old - thread necromancy is frowned on, and you are also at risk of misreporting an already fixed bug (which will get your report binned)

Much of what has been described isn't actually a bug but an interaction between an interface shortcut, and patricians not being desirable marriage partners - there are very few eligible spouses at game start, and prestige, alliance, and bride price effects will mean their lieges will probably not agree to marriage. However, the marriage ('rings') interface, excludes the random courtiers in each court - which you can marry. So your best way to find a spouse is through the character finder.

Note that most patricians (and heirs) start married - the issue does arise for them, you just probably don't notice unless your spouse dies early.

I do apologize if I have made a faux pas in terms of posting in an old thread, I am not a regular forum user.
I was just trying to avoid creating a thread on something that seemed like it had already been described, but that might not have been the proper way to go about it.

However, this does feels like a bug, if not in mechanics, then at least in interface.
The main issue I was trying to communicate is that your character is not on the list of characters from your court, in the Arrange Marriage Window (after you have chosen a potential spouse from the other court), but your courtiers and other retainers are.
It also feels weird that it only applies to patricians from 867, but not 1066.

If there is a need to create a new thread to comply with forum rules, I would be happy to do that.

NP :) But yes, try to make separate reports if an issue was reported that far back, since the return of the issue might not even be related. I'll look into the issue to see what can be done :) Thanks for the reports all.
