Ruler as commander?

I'm playing an Epirus campaign, I'm unable however to assign my ruler as the commander of my legion. I somehow can't select him as a commander, and I don't know why.

Is there something I'm missing?

Since they are the governor of the region, they can only be the commander of the levy. Also Pyrrhus is underage so he can’t be a commander at the start of the game.

Thanks for the reply. I was aware of the age restriction.

But the fact that you can't use your ruler apart from when you use levies seems odd to me, since that would discourage you to fill up your legion completely (from your home region) since you're otherwise unable to utilize your ruler in battle (as you aren't able to raise any levies if you use all pops for the legion)

Playing as Epirus like you, I have already mentioned it in another topic, it does not make any sense. Hope they fix it with a hotfix.
Also the pain is double when it comes to Pyrrhus...

100% agree with you guys, I was waiting for this kind off update for almoust a year and also I bought this new dlc Heirs of Alexander Content to get the best fealinng of the game, but now i'm completely devastated and probably wont play this game till they change this.... almoust perfect update..... almoust.

I mea not only Pyrrhus but overall let us decide if ouer leader is going with main army/legion or levy or with nobody and let him be wherever he is. That makes a lot of more sense and it is more accurate than what is now

The charm of playing as Epirus is largely removed if Pyrrhus can't be a commander. Definitely killed my run when I made that discovery.

It would be cool if we could assign a commander for the levies of our main region, and if we could put our ruler in charge of the levies for some wars.

There is also a bug : when we split a levy from our main region in two, our ruler is in charge of the two armies, even if they are separated from thousands of kilometers.

The workaround for this reportedly is to not fill the legion, raise one unit of levy from the province, then move the two armies together - which admittedly is pretty annoying
