Has anyone been able to figure out if these expeditions work? I have gotten an event about 3 times saying this society will award the first people to "discover the source of the Nile" or "be the first to reach the North Pole". It's really expensive to fund these operations, but I've sunk 150,000 total between the two expeditions. I never got anything back, no prestige, nothing. Maybe I wasn't the first?

Has anyone ever had luck with these things? Or are they bugged events?

As the ottomans, I once got a 3-choice Antarctic option: skip (-xx prestige) think about it (0 prestige, -small $) and go all out (+xx prestge, -big $) I chose the 'think about it' route...

That's weird, I got the three options too, but the outcomes were different:

go all out (-$$$, 50-100k) no prestige gain
think about it (-5 prestige)
skip (-5 prestige)

Both times I got it those were the choices. I paid big money thinking it would trigger another event giving me a lot of prestige, it didn't happen years later. I'm playing revolutions. Are you?

In retrospect I would rather lose a little prestige than a lot of money, since the money doesn't seem to do any good.
