A man enters the court of the King of France, along with an honor guard of Norman knights. The man comes before the Regent Charles and bows his head politely.

"Greetings, your Grace. I am Lord Charles Amcathra, the Baron of Cherbourg, loyal vassal to Duke Richard of Normandie. I am here to negotiate the terms of a treaty to allow the construction of a road through the lands of the King of France. As an opening offer, in exchange for allowing men of Normandie, Bretagne and Aquitaine to pass through his lands, Duke Richard is prepared to offer very favorable trading concessions in the great port of Rouen, as well as to pay the cost of constructing a new merchant house in the Trade City of Nantes. Moreover, any road that would be constructed by Norman workmen would be protected by Norman constables, thus freeing the King of France from having to police those who would pass down the road."

The king answears the man from Naples.

" My good man.
Your offer sounds very interesting and I must say that I find Blanche Sforza very beutiful, but what the painting do not show is the age of Blanche so could I be so rud to ask for this?
As for the rest of the deal I am very interested, but a painting can not show what a person is in real life and I would like for her to come her to Grenoble to stay for some time at the court so that we can get to know each other. I hope this is okay for your noble king and for Blanche."

After consulting Duke Charles the king turns to the knight from Normandy.

" My good sir.
Your proposal sounds interesting, but why should France just give without getting any thing back?
As you might now I rule a kingdom split in three so maybe I would need some roads betwen my states as well. So if Normandie are to get the road it might maybe be possible for France to build a road in the land of Normandie as well? Because as you might know I rule over land on bothe sides of your land.

Beside rumors are telling me that you are not goving to use the road only for trade, I gave heared that you might use it for war, Imust then tell you that I will not sign any papers before we have a deal for what should happen if you should use the road to war."

He looks at the Norman and awaits an ansear.

Lord Charles doesn't miss a beat, since he was of course ready for his first offer to be rejected.

"Normandie would of course allow the construction of a road through his territory. The brotherhood of all men of Gaul is sacred, and Duke Richard is always happy to help the King of France. As for the matter of war, it seems that matters have been resolved, and no aggressive action will be neccessary. Nevertheless, should Duke Richard use the road for military purposes, he pledges that that any army that were to use the road, ever, be kept under the strictest control, and that any damage to the lands of France will be recompensed personally by the Duke of Normandie."

The king answears Lord Charles again.

"My lord.
I must say that you have a fast brain and that your duke must have given you good brifing before he send you here. I am happy for that. I am also very happy for that you are willing to also let me have a road for me innhabitants travling around the kingdom. It now looks like we can come more to a deal. I am also very happy for that your war looks like it has been canceled and that your country will take care of the road be them self and pay France if any thing should happened.
So I guess I have your word of honour as a knight for that the road will not be used for a war?"

The king smiles to the knight while he awaits an answear.

Lord Charles thinks for a moment.

"Your Majesty, I cannot make a pledge that it will never be used to move troops during war. I can promise you that Duke Richard has no intention of warring in Gaul in the forseeable future. I can promise you that in the event of a war, the Duke of Normandie shall pledge the safety of the the lands near the road."

The king wispers a little with duke Charles before he nswers the norman.

" Lord Chales.
This sounds resanoble enough. I understand that you can not promise that the road never will be used for war, but as long as it is not used for that in the nearest furture I am happy, so then we might come back on your proposals for a deal about the road?."

"The invitation was headed by an illustration."

"Most gracious, Louis, King of France,

As Saint Joseph took the Blessed Virgin to wed, obeying the will of the Lord and ensuring the childhood of Christ our savior, so in a much humbler way, we, Erich of the House of Wittelsbach, joyously extend our warmest invitation to join us with all your family at the Church of Mater Dolorosa in Nuremburg to observe and celebrate the most holy union of the Imperial House of Wittelsbach and the Royal House of Plantagenet with the marriage of His Most Serene and Pacific Majesty, Erich I, and Her Royal Highness, Annabella of England.

Cordially,
His August Imperial Majesty, Emperor Erich I
Her Royal Highness, Princess Annabella"

The king speaks to Lord Charles again.

" Noble lord.
So to sumarise Normandy will make sure that the persons using the road will not destroy any land or other things that belongs to France. Normandy will grant Right of Passage to France as well and France will get a good trafe agreement with Normandy for using the road. That sounds like pretty fair.
I have just one more question. Will Normandy be willing to pay France anything for the land that will be given over to the state of Normandy for construction of the road?"

He looks at the Lord and awaits a replay.

Lord Charles raises an eyebrom, looking very interested.

"I believe I understand what your majesty is saying. The Duke of Normandie is prepared to purchase the land needed to build the road, but that road will then be considered the sovereign property of the Duke of Normandie."

"Well, since you pay for it I guess it is just resanoble that the land should belong and be under charge of Normandy. But will it still be possible for french people to use the road?"

Messenger from Eire

A man dressed in the green colours of Eire enters the magnificent french throne.

" I have been sent by H.R.H Hugh O`Neill and together with my soft words I bring you the very finest of Irish whisky. My glorious King hopes that our glorious nations can live in peace and harmony as long as they are ruled by the great sovereigns at present time.
Once again I assure you that my King wishes nothing but the best for your nation, and please do come and visit the green fields of Eire and you will be met by real Irish hospitality!"

The messenger bows, and rushes out of the Hall.

Lord Charles sips at his whisky, and finding it to be to his liking smiles. Better than the Scotch Whiskey back home, at any rate. He proffers a scroll from his belt, holding it for the King of France to sign.

While saying this the king has obiusly got to much whiskey and Duke Charles calles for some servants to get him to his quarters. The duke then speaks:
