- A Good Laugh at Someone Else's Expense, Part IV. -
As Antaine was being dragged off to a dank dungeon, he shouted back to the Englishmen.
"Listen here you wig-wearing bastards, I passed the Irish Prince on the way here and he allowed me to escape with my life knowing that I was to come here. That was their declaration of war. Do not wait for a sheet of paper that will never come. Defend yourselves!"
It was at that time that he realized the enormity of what he had done. He helped the O'Briens come to power, He betrayed their trust and attempted to get the Scots to invade. He failed, so he turned to the English who saw him for a drunken idiot.. Perhaps that wasn't so far from the truth.
As Antaine sat in his cell, he realized the beauty of what was transpiring around him. Ireland would be united oncemore... But then a thought entered his head. What if Scotland and England were to work together to pacify the Irish in this coming war? The Scots that he had always admired, the descendants of King Edward Bruce of Ireland... would become the enemies of his people. No matter the outcome, his fate was clear...

"Sire, In case you are not yet aware, the usurpers whom rule most of Ireland and your crown in England are now in a state of war... However, we do not come representing the government of King Toirdhealbhagh, but his more cultured rival the Prince of Ulster.."
The leader pulled out a document.
"In return for safe evacuation of all English from the Island of Ireland, as well as promised military support in all future English wars, Ireland requests only that you cede your Irish holdings to the future King of Ireland, whom as we speak is marching with a large army from his allies from the continent and is about to vanquish our common foe, Toirdhealbhach."

He walks quickly to the king, bows, smiles and quickly speaks "Your majesty. It is with great sadness that I hear about the terrible actions in Ireland I hear that they dare to attack you majesty and order your greatness o leave your lands. I hope that those ridiculous men are slaughterd and your ownership of Ireland is confirmed once more!" He nods smiles but continues "But I am not here just to show what the Pious King João thinks, I am here to ask your higness for help. For Portugal is in great need. In need for allys, in need for friends. And we do not have any greater friend that Your kingdom, that your majesty himself!
I am here to Ask you if you can send any knights for Lisbon to prepare for the great cruzade of Africa and if they may serve under the orders of the Portuguese Generals. And If your majesty Loan Portugal of 2 000 000 ducats ( 2 ecos ) as soon as possible, because we are in a really great need for it! And without any help Portugal may fail her endevour!" he gives one step back waiting for a reply.

"Is there anything His Highness, the King of Sweden can do to pressure his Bremer ally into returning Calais to the rightful authorities? I would hate to have to go to war with them over this issue..."
He then turned to the Portuguese diplomat.
"You will have your knights."
He thought to himself (Here is my chance at being seen as a generous and pious King who fights the forces of Mohammed and seeks no personal gains from it. Of course I will seize this opportunity.)
And then his demeanor changed completely.
"You dare come to my court and make demands? You say that I am not at war with you, but the other Irish faction, and yet you suggest that should I not take your bribe Englishmen will be endangered... Your offer sounds lackluster, unless there is some reason that an army of rebel Irish would be worth my friendship and alliance that I have not forseen."
Edmund first responded to the Pomeranian.

"Well, Sire, Our continental reinforcements come from The Empire and are of the highest quality. The O'Brien reinforcements are mercenaries funded by the Valois claimant of France himself. The goal is to undermine your authority and to weaken your grasp on Gaul."
The leader pulled out a forged document, written in French and Gaelic, which duplicated the seals from the Whiskey and Song pact.
"In this, the year of 1453, I, Toirdhealbhach, First of the House of O'Brien recognize Louis Capet as the rightful King of France, and the Dauphine, his son, as the rightful King of England."
He smirked.
"We would never recognize such ridiculous claims. The O'Neill King of Ireland would even agree to join the Alliance of Britannia at a later date, after the hostility on the island of Ireland subsides. I am sure that you, as an English King would enjoy a tribute from Ireland, but as you know we are a poor nation, but what we lack in capital we have in manpower, which would be at your disposal should you find war unavoidable."

He tried to hide his contempt and his feelings that he was surrounded by hostile enemies.
"This O'Brien is an unsavory character, regardless of who succeeds him, his demise is necessary for the stability of the region."
He thought to himself (I abhor the Eirish, their barbarian language, names, and customs... But Lotharingia, France, Castille, and now apparently Ireland conspire against me. I have received no word from my brother in months, and it is possible that he will be used as a captive for them to achieve their goals. Something must be done, so if it means a temporary withdrawal from Ireland, I suppose I shall permit the Eirish the land.. For now.)
He wanted to end this discussion.

Windsor had gone quiet once again. The Irish, having gotten what they had sought, did nothing to provoke England, while the Valois French, unable to fund a massive force, did nothing to weaken English control over French lands.
It seemed as if England may even relieve Calais from the Bremer forces by the end of the season, but nothing was set in stone.
