i think that it was said before in a psot about an older Screenshot but Rouen is not in Britanny. Rouen is between Paris and Le Havre.

The correct name to display instead may be Saint-Brieuc

thanks to correct this asap!

:D

just kidding but would be nice if u fix that before the release. i know i'm just nitpicking and so what? ;)

How 'bout Rennes?

maybe but it seems that Rennes must be in the province under the Avranches one. but i can't tell cause we don't see this one. ;)

edit : yep i chek an older screen and the one under Avranches is name Angers but to be is seem much more like it would be Rennes. geographically it would be more accurate and Rennes is the big city in this part of France. i think it's a garison city too. but maybe not at that time.

So Rouen must be rename as Saint-Brieuc which has more flavoured don't u think?

this is a very superficial thing to be happy about but....

thanks johan for having a 'Sunderland' province, much better name for my home area ;)

also very impressed with the new model for dealing with air forces from what i can make of the screenshot :)

Hopefully there will be designated airfields on the map so no more simply moving around large air units and landing them in any province.

Air units seem to be handled much more efficient than the previous micro-mangement in HoI 1.

And more provinces on the french coast will make it easier for the allies to invade, as the Axis have to garrison more beaches.

But the ship in the channel does look .... like something from Civ3. ;)

The Spitfire looks great!

(and the ports in Cardiff and Plymouth are positioned way off. They were also in the wrong place in HoI 1...)

I thnk that those are different models, the one in Birmingham is a late war model with Christie style suspension, 5 visible wheels, more low to the ground, and has something that looks like spoiler on the back. While the tank at Portsmouth looks like Vickers suspension model, it higher above the ground, and looks like a Sherman style tank (it also has no Spoiler).

Well, refrasing myself to make my meaning clearer... Doesn't it look like the tank sprite in Birmingham is shown at a slightly different angle than that other, different tank sprite (which is a different model) in Portsmouth? :D

The tank in question in central england is a Crusader tank with a fuel tank on the far back, the british put them there much like the russians mounted them on the rear sides, and the americans in the middle rear.

Great screenshot Johan. Finally we see the air combat sim at work, and it looks great!

I have some theories here, so let´s go:

The bar to the left is probably what you see when you click on the airplane on the top, a list of all your air groups (nice addition, by the way). The provinces listed are the ones that have airports (probably planes can only rebase to said provinces) and the numbers represent some sort of size and/or quality of airfields. The number before the bar seems to represent the actual capacity of the airfields and the number following the bar would represent the total capacity. If this is true, it means that you can damage the airfields. This adds a hell lot of possibilities (and fun!) to the Battle of Britain. I can already see my stukas tearing apart the airfields of those nasty Spitfires instead of bombing the hell out of London.
Also, for what I see, the number in the province does not represent the maximum number of air divisions a province can take, since the Dover province (which is rated at 5/5) apparently has 14 air groups (7+5+1+1).

I coul also stress the conclusions of some other people. Apparently the Doctrines will play a big part on the coices you´ve got for your air missions. I also have a question: is the "Interdiction" mission given to the 11th Group an order to support the ground troops? A la blitzkrieg-style of combined-arms warfare?

All in all, it looks sweet. Thanks Johan! :)

Fantastic! Will the state/region system be used for every type of air mission? For example, I would probably want to target a specific city during a nuclear attack.
I hope, that a squadron could be given orders to attack/defend all provinces within its range. Would be quite stupid, if you want to defend A, B and C, all within range, but C is in a different state, so you could only choose A and B or C.

.

hmm...-...really nice :)

1. air combat seems to have more options:

- air-superiority
- interdiction

and targeting areas: normandy, channel !

2. the combat/unit overview on the left is just great

- you can see on the first look which unit is doing what

3. even in France there are more provinces !

4. AA gets icon like forts !

5. ...and there are different levels of air-fields !!! :D :D :D

- compare the icons in Norwich and Sheffield !

Salivating

Like the new sprites - may start using them again. Fortress and AA much improved. Plus the interface seems friendlier.

Good stuff!

I wonder if the numbers displayed after the provinces (6/8, 10/10, 5/5) is the command level of the airfiield(s). Meaning the 5/5 could handle 5 airgroups going on 5 missions. Or it's simply the number of airgroups that can be based there..

Regarding the 6/8 in Dunfirmline, either it's been damaged by the Germans or it's expanding.. OR the 6 and the 8 repressent different things.. command level and rebase level perhaps?
