My friend is behind a router and his router hates him. We have tried all the steps on the links that I know you want to post saying "have you tryed this?" Yes we have port fowarding on NAT filtering off and all software firewalls off. STILL no dice. We also tryed hamachi to no avail.

His router is a rangemax Netgear something rather and I am out of ways to fix it.

For the port fowarding, do you need to put an exact name for application name? How do you know what that name is?

I am lost and really want to play with him. Why is it so dang hard to get Paradox games to work with ANY routers? Why not allow the game to work through UpNp or better yet, make a mod to allow that?

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to find out what port the game runs on then forward that port to his desktop IP address. There is really no other way to do it if not hte network wont know where to send the calls.

Hamachi worked for me last year when i was behind a router. The only other VERY RISKY solution is to enable DMZ to your network address if the router has the option. Otherwise you are going to have to port forward.

If hamachi doesn't work something is wrong. Hamachi bypasses your firewall system completely - it puts you on a VPN.

Make DEAD sure windows firewall is OFF.

*** the address hamachi has on its window titlebar is that machines hamachi address. use that to connect. (IE server's window says 5.5.5.5 then connect to 5.5.5.5)
