router problems

hawo. me and another bloke are trying to create a game on gameranger (and then through our in game) and we never can join one anothers game. It always comes up saying, "no ip found, check firewall, router etc"...

can someone help in how this can be resolved im a total newb when it comes to routers internet etc...
