March 1941.
At long last, the time has come when Germany once again stands among the great seafaring nations of the world. The Kriegsmarine, pride of the reich has been restored to it's rightful status as a serious contender in the high seas.
The new navy consists of 3 aircraft carriers of the Seydlitz class, 5 Bismarck class battleships, 5 Scharnhorst class battlecruisers, 12 Hipper class heavy cruisers and 5 Nürnberg class light cruisers.
The fleet is intended to operate as follows. The heavy cruisers are the workhorse of the navy, engaging smaller ships, hunting enemy commerce and lure out bigger enemy ships in small groups. The larger ships, battleships and battlecruisers will engage enemy ships of the same class, while the carriers provide air strikes and air superiority in engagements. The light cruisers are tasked with the protection of of battlegroups with their massive array of anti-air weaponry.
It is the hope of German high command, that these ships will keep the north sea clear, until the shipyards have completed the ships intended for the baltic fleet, and are able to start mass production of more advanced class of carriers and super heavy battleships.
