Just a question....

Is anyone interested in making a "pass-the-AAR", by that I mean someone starts an agreed-upon game, plays for 60-80 years (game time ), writes an AAR here and e-mails the requisite files to the next on the list, who does the same.

Just thought it'd be interesting to see an AAR that doesn't feature the same "controlling force" through the whole game.

I'd definitely be interested. Just a few suggestions/questions:
- We'd all have to be on the same version.
- If one of us uses IGC, we'll all need IGC. Not to mention using the same IGC options.
- Ditto for REU.
- A time limit for playing/posting would be necessary, something reasonable though, as most of us have to work! More's the pity.
- How many players did you have in mind? Round robins can be great fun, but they are most fun when your time comes around 2 or 3 times in the game.
- Sometimes, a player finishes playing but doesn't finish the AAR portion quick enough. Then the next person in line might finish real quick and post his AAR. Now we have an out of joint history. It's best if the stipulation is made that you don't forward the save game file until you have the AAR written. Then you forward both to the next king/empress/sun god/whatever. It's their responsibility to post the AAR before starting to play. This also gives them a feel for what the preceeding 50(?) years were like before starting.
- Finally, perhaps some broad guidelines for how indepth we want the AAR? Do we want blow by blows of foreign wars? A listing of precise troops raised? Would too much detail be too boring?

Like I said, I'd definitely be interested. Who else?

excellent idea here. i was thinking about that too ironically earlier today and this is a great chance to try it.

i am running ver 1.8 with igc 2.0 (must have its awesome)

Ok, I'll try to get in touch with you lot later tonight (when I get home from work...sigh. I'm a junkie for this game).

I was thinking at least 3, no more than 7, preferrably 5 members.

Perhaps 1 to 2 weeks to play and post, details of that can be agreed upon later...I was thinking something along the line of a tale of a family of counselors, though if we're feeling less literary, it's good by me.

I like the idea! Alot! I could do it on a regular GC (can't seem to install the IGC ) and I have version 1.08. What country do we have in mind?

Are you meaning to play the same country, are'nt you?

That's one option.
Other choice would be to play a different country from the former when the savegame file comes to you. That's would be a vendetta! E.g.: The 1st has played, let's say, Turkey and have beaten Mameluks. You, as Austria, give them a lesson.

I was wondering the same thing actually. I'm not quite sure how to change a country in mid-course but I think it would make for an intersting round robin!

I'll vote for IGC 2.0? the latest - standard scenario with no novelties, Spanish Netherlands, EU 1.08. Country? Maybe a traditional major, Spain anyone? Any other suggestions are welcome

Sorry I've been out for a while. Had a bit of a computer problem.

The main problem I'm seeing is getting everyone on the same version of the game.

I believe it was warspite who gave me the exellent suggestion that we organize this through ICQ, so I'll do that tonight and update my profile with my ICQ #.

My primary thought was to focus on one nation, then have a combined AAR posted like a historical journal in the AAR forum as each player finished their "tenure".

I was thinking, for a nation, a smaller one like Denmark, or Holland, though Spain might be fun too, seeing people shift national focus from europe to the "rest of the world" based on their preferences (I'm a colonialist....I'd trade flanders for the Inca Empire any day) .
