Ok whats the deal with not being able to connect to my bro i have no firewall no router and he can't join my game we have both 2.1 ver i'm at a lost...?

Hard to say, as you've given almost no detail. What exactly happens? Any errors or messages? Can you play other games together OK?
Is this a local game, across the net, or on the metaserver? Has HE got any firewall? If you're on XP SP3 or Vista, Windows implements its own firewall so you may in fact have one.

I'm on windows Xp sp3, I am using a router and i have firewall, We have played each other before but not with this game.We have had no probs playing rts and Fps, So I shut down the windows and my own Firewall and cut the router out of it. I am pluged from the net right into my comp everything is open to anything, he can not join me on a direct Ip or on the meta, he just get's a unable to find game, we both have same update 2.1 the only diff is that i have gold and he has the norm game with the D/l expandion, so any ideas?

What exactly happens when you try? Be as specific as possible please. Any errors or messages?
There are no Errors, We can talk to each other in the meta server see each others games we make,but when we try to join a game, mine or his it will say after a bit "unable to find game" and that's it. so I'm at a lost to why this game is not working, We don't have problems with any other games??Maybe it's just bad coding or something.
If it was bad coding, no-one else would be able to play on the Metaserver either. But they can and do It must be something peculiar to one or both of your systems or environments.
Can you see each other by direct IP connection?

I'm having the same problem. My partner and I do play Civ via the net and IP connections. We both are using vista. We have shutdown Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. We have opened the ports mentioned in the manual. We can IM over the metaserver, see each other but the game is not recognized when we attempt to. Direct IP does not recognize the game either.
Any ideas?

Yea that is the same thing We are dealing with,sky,..I'm going to try and repatch or something maybe re install the game who knows maybe i have to use a 56k modem to play this..
