Some extra trade goods

Some extra trade goods would be very nice indeed. I'm not sure if attrition is a part of the game. If it is, wool would be a nice trade good too to reduce attrition rate of troops produced (wool helps your troops against cold). Maybe hides would also be a nice alternative (besides being more valuable).

Silk could indeed also be a valuable added trade good and maybe add some more tax bonus or trade good income bonus.

Marble was also a much wanted trade good, especially for Rome. Maybe some extra prestige (don't know if prestige is in the game) for the province or "approval rating bonus" for the leader of the country.

EDIT: Furthermore why is it that spices add religious prestige? Marble would be better IMO.

I agree that silk as well as marble should be included as trade goods b/c of the demand that there was for those items.

In fact marble should be required for some of the higher lvl civilization boosting structures b/c what is more impressive. A structure/statue made out of common stone or one made out of marble?

Another thought is that the regular stone should also be a prerequisite for mid lvl civilization boosting structures. Same argument as above. What looks more impressive wood or stone?

I can see where requiring certain building materials would have potentially adverse effects on game balance so I will be surprised if its implemented.

Very nice trade goods, guys. I specially liked the fish effect "+10% to manpower", it is very well thought! In those times fishing communities and those nearby them tend to have stronger people because of the ready available source of protein, fish. Elsewhere protein-rich food was much more difficult to be available to the general population; the more protein-rich diet of the fishing communities probably provided their people with stronger, healthier bodies, thus increasing the amount of people capable of military service.

Very Civ like.
Not at all, actually. Civ4's resources are binary, that is, you only have 1 amount of resource that you can either keep or trade away.

I like Rome's approach much better: Just trading a critical resource does not cut yourself from its source, making the trade of strategic resources much more of a viable strategy than it ever was in the Civ games.

I agree. This is the kind of trading system I have been hoping they would develop. We need to experience how it works of course. But in concept I like it.
