It will be easier to make a mod of the Imperial Period instead of the Republic one... the problem will be that Rome will be a great super power compared with others countries... having 60% of the map (at least)... :S

Could do one of the late Imperial period. That way barbarians are all around as well. Roman power weaker, and it could be split into east-west factions, and there's also a strong Persia.

In addition, it makes for some fun religious stuff!

Or you could do it during the 3rd century troubles when large parts of the empire basically broke off.

I am currently writing an AAR for just the mod you're proposing! :D

I set it beginning in the late Roman period, 461 AD. I think this period is more interesting and better adapted tot he CK engine, since you have the Western Empire already split up in a quasi-fedual fashion; Italia as an Imperial demesne, Gallia and Hispania all but independent (Duchies?) and the Barbarian Foederatii (Franks, Visigoths etc) as allied (or not:)) Kingdoms.

I hope someone makes such a mod!

Yes this period will work...
we can use the JEW religion tag to make Arians (Arius followers) that many barbarians follow at that period.

You have noticed that Byzantium Emperor has +20 demesne bonus, plus +1% loyalty to the liege... is there a way to make two emperors possible in the game? the bizantine and the latin...

Muslims must change to ZOROASTRIAN... the persian religion
Catholics and Orthodox were not splited (formally)... but it will be better if we consider West Roman Empire as Catholic... :D

In the late empire period, the churches weren't anywhere near split. Even in 800, while there were significant differences between the churches, a total split was not necessary, and keeping the churches united entirely was not out of the question. In fact during the period of this mod, if it is indeed the late empire period, 2 people from the Greek speaking portion of the Empire became Pope.
