?? There's nothing in the mod or vanilla that makes the tribes worse at diplomacy, to the best of my knowledge.

I just turned the game off so I can't check, but now that you mention it I think the mod assigned penalty is to intrigue not diplomacy. I'm just bitter over the apparent war score bias with small countries hehe, but I guess it's not the mod's fault it's apparently impossible for a tribe to immediately offer tribute after all :p. I'm trying to figure out how to just plain survive as Lusitani, it's pretty impossible since Carthage hyper colonizes now. I had a few posts in the "why won't Carthage accept peace!" thread illustrating the lengths I was going to with Lusitani.

Anyway yeah, not the mod's fault an immediate tribute doesn't work, my bad :p

Just wanted to post bug: When I played Pontus, I lost a province to rebels.
Then event 'Province lost!' popped up. Then it popped up again. And again.
About 30 times for the same province. Arrgh! Extremely annoying.
Could you please check it?

I think the Rome:Enhanced dedicated forum will be down again this coming weekend - the hosting website is performing an upgrade that they didn't fully complete last weekend, but they promise this'll be it.

I don't know if the kill rate has been cranked up just a little too much... I'm playing a game (as Roma) and was battling some of the northern tribes, and got slautered big time in a couple of battles. With in no time, I lost about 60 uints (3 20 unit armies)..... just gone!! They happend so fast, I could not get a look at their army doing the damage. I recovered and ended up winning, but wow, it did cost me a bit..

1.2 cranked it up to deal with the 'ping pong' people were complaining about...

I'll have to look into that. They cranked it by 100% (i.e to 2 instead of 1) and the mod cranks it up by 50% again ( to 3, lowered from the 4 it was in earlier versions) so it shouldn't be that huge a difference. Were your armies severely depleted or something? I haven't seen any other comments on this problem.
If you're using a previous version (i.e. earlier than 0.502) the damage modifier could still be cranked to 4, so i'd suggest making sure you have the newest version, as this damage rate combined with the "no early retreat" addition to v1.2 could cause huge losses of the type you describe.

Hey guys, I recently downloaded your mod, and I'm wondering if you're planning on doing anything (if it's at all possible, at first glance this seems hardcoded) about the disastrously bad diplomacy between nations of differing culture groups? As it stands it's basically impossible to play as any zoroastrian nation, period. Unless you start later when Parthia and Armenia are there to be buddies. Not only that, but Pontus and Armenia are at each other's throats when in reality they were allies...I would also debate the entirety of Pontus's provinces being Greek. That seems rather off.

While I can't improve diplomacy amongst differing cultural groups (though I suspect Paradox will eventually change it a bit, given the complaints and the fact that it's likely an artifact from the EU3 engine), assuming Rome:Enhanced uses my cultural factions changes once I upload v .11 (I left it at home by mistake, so it's going to be a week ^_^0 ), there will at least be a bit of variety in relations, instead of a steady drop to -200 amongst different cultural groups - some rulers will like certain cultures, other rulers will hate certain cultures, and some governors and court members will toss a wrench in the relational destiny of countries based on their own actions.

The end result won't terribly resemble history (though I'm certain someone can modify my events easily enough to guide history towards a reasonably historical relations map), but at least it'll make a hair more sense than "Well, we all hate the rest of the world because we're not Greek.". It won't help as much as I like - even really good relations aren't an assurance of alliance or trade amongst differing cultural groups - but it usually prevents wars without a good reason. I just wish we could force alliances via event =\ .

By the way... I have a few spare hours sitting at the hotel since I injured my knee (nothing serious, but it hurts to walk... Hopefully it'll clear up by tomorrow >_< ) - I'd like to start expanding on the diplomacy a bit more, so could someone be so kind as to pm me a list of culture groups :) ?

what to to against frezzes ? game crashes after 2-10 minutes. latest vers :/

This is the first I've heard about crashes in v0.502. Are you using some other mod as well? Is your game patched to version 1.2? What country are you playing as? You'll need to give more info so I/we can help.

I have been playing this mod now for a couple of days and it's pretty good, I have one question though. I keep getting the "overstretched" modifier when I play as barbarian nations, why does this happen and how do i get rid of it?

The overstretch modifier is designed to represent the difficulties of managing a large (+5 provinces) nation with a tribal government. If you push through and reach 9 provinces in size, eventually an event will fire which allows you to change governments and ergo remove the modifier.

Well, just stopping the steady decline to -200 for no apparent reason is a good start, so sounds good :p

I don't see why. If you don't pay attention to other nations, and foster diplomacy with them, your relations get worse. This is a fact of life and politics, throughout history. Although Jane's idea about basing relations on what culture the ruler likes seems to be a good idea.

Yes, but there's no options in game TO pay attention to other countries. Until there is, then I would surely say that indeed it is declining for no particular reason. I'd totally agree if you had the means to make the bar go up that you would historically, but you don't :p

Huh? Gifts are the standard way of "paying attention" to another country in EU3/EU: Rome. While of course literal gifts are useful, this can also be abstracted as the cost of sending a diplomatic mission to a country. In addition, alliances or trade agreements are other examples which allow you to keep on good terms with other nations.
I know this is incomplete, and I'm working on a "Diplomatic Mission" type of event for my upcoming (planned for v0.51) International Relations event series which will allow the player to (or at least attempt to) increase relations without the burden on their treasury.

Oh yeah, and that reminds me I have to lower the MTTH of those government-changing events now that meeting the prerequisites is harder.

i just hope those were not mercenaries hehe those are expensive late in the game because those are the ones i use in the first battles for man power reasons.now that i have grown alote with pergamon second war with seleciud empire i notice that one of my generals has a 10 and in my border i dont make a fast raid into the country i invaded which it is selecuids first i declare war and let them loose man power and moral and then bring my big army to start flanking with 18,000 heavy infantry 5,0000 calvary and 5,000 archers are mercenaries with a 10 skill general and i wipe every army i understand the i fought vs a 20000 army then a rounting army came in with + 15000 and vs my 10 skill general and 18000 troops left he won the battle and kills like the whole army now is that right ? and other provinces next to the country war are protected with about 12 to 20 thousand men, they killed me a 12,000 army of mercenaries and thats like 120 gold coin to get back as i like to have mercenaries
\excuse my english second language
