Tribes will be reworked for v0.51 so that they don't cover so much territory. 0.501 was released mainly to provide a version that works with 1.2 in the meantime, but as stated there are still balance issue to be worked out, so please, keep posting your comments. Right now, there is a modifier that comes into play when tribes reach 5 provinces in size, which severely curtails further expansion. That's probably why they're not expanding further. I'm working on a better method for the next version.

The rework I mentioned will give the Gauls more room to expand, so that should balance out the Germanic/Gallic issues you mentioned.

Oh no, I mean they won't even get their FIRST province until the barbarian province pops on it's own. In fact, I've only ever seen Macedonia and Carthage ever send a unit in to a province to pop barbarians on purpose, so it's not something that is a problem with your mod (although if you somehow can mod a voracious appetite to colonize the moment it's possible, that's cool :p). I mean, the one province britannia tribes will pick the "new ways" civ event and sit there at 56% civ or more and they still aren't bothering to pop the barbarians, they are happy just sitting there until it happens all on it's own.

I like it how it is to be honest... yes it's kind of a traffic jam, and your mod + vanilla is hyper fast civilizing, but... from a watching the AI Rome point of view, this actually helps the Romans often as not, because AI Rome likes to conquer more than they like to colonize anyway, so what this USUALLY means so far is that Rome has a plethora of targets to choose instead of sitting there not colonizing. They usually still win :p. Although I did see an Aleurci/Lemovices/Hellvetti/Averni conglomerate force a white peace when Rome invaded Hellvetti. Helvetti got smashed and ceded one territory, but the chain alliance it set off didn't lose a single territory after that until the white peace was forced. I cheered heh.

From a playing as Rome point of view, I have no idea, though I rather suspect it's pretty much the same thing... more targets to conquer, less colonizing needed. I don't know though, haven't played as Rome yet. I suppose dropping the starting Civ is warranted (at least the 49% nations for sure), but just remember vanilla civ is hyper fast compared to what it was too when you are rebalancing.

Oh speaking of the overstretched condition (which is popping at 4 territories not 5 :p)... I was trying to find an in depth description of this condition, and all I can really see anywhere is something to the effect of "tribes reworked, will now have a hard time holding more than 5 territories, and must hold 9 to (drop the effect or change government or something like that). Is this still in effect in your mod, do we need to get at least 9 territories before sitting there waiting for the government change event? I'm not too clear on that. I usually grab 9 and sit and cross fingers for the event, not sure if I need to do that or if the government change will still happen in due time, or what.

that is not right, either you haven't chosen ROME:ENHANCED v0.5 in the launcher, or you haven't extracted the entire mod.

If you installed it correctly, You will find a shortcut to rome in the mod folder (which you get to through steps 1 to 4). Use that one and see what happens.

if you don't have a shortcut in the rome-folder, you will have to either reinstall the mod, or redownload and reinstall the mod

Hey guys, I recently downloaded your mod, and I'm wondering if you're planning on doing anything (if it's at all possible, at first glance this seems hardcoded) about the disastrously bad diplomacy between nations of differing culture groups? As it stands it's basically impossible to play as any zoroastrian nation, period. Unless you start later when Parthia and Armenia are there to be buddies. Not only that, but Pontus and Armenia are at each other's throats when in reality they were allies...I would also debate the entirety of Pontus's provinces being Greek. That seems rather off.

While we can change cultures (this is easy to do, but the debate over what to make each is furious), we cannot change the diplomacy between different culture groups. This is hardcoded, so ask Paradox. It was the same way in EU3 as well: nations in different culture groups have a hard time getting along.

And FYROM: No, the forum is not down.

So I'm kind of wondering, is the -50% diplomacy for tribes entirely necessary? While barbarians being bad at diplomacy makes sense, in strictly game terms it only has two real effects... makes you suck at trying to pay tribute to live (actually I've concluded it's impossible, but this is what tribes did back then), and I think it makes suing for peace harder doesn't it? If so, then that means tribes are apparently really bad at intimidating whoever they just beat up :p. I'm stubbornly trying to find a way for Lusitani to live, but after scores of restarts and tries, I'm pretty sure it's impossible to offer tribute to anybody at all.

As he replied, it has been taken off, it only pops up right when the province is taken but only once.

?? There's nothing in the mod or vanilla that makes the tribes worse at diplomacy, to the best of my knowledge.
