or maybe it's something based a little earlier before that period? :)
I wouldn't mind seeing a game focusing on Classical Greece and Persians. Or even earlier than that. :)

I think the problem with the original game was the lack of countries to play, with the massive blob of Rome the centre of activity. The period is one of the most popular but the original game never really took of like I thought it was, probably due to not having loads of countries to play like Paradox's other games. Definitely need to use the CK2 character driven game though.

Like others I would like a game based in the Greek era or even before. The only games I know of for this period were the Slitherine ones, Sparta & Gates of Troy, & Chariots of War that covered the ancient period. Al were very good at the time, & although not having the depth of Paradox games were enjoyable.

I think the soonest its going to end up existing is after the CKII DLC ends freeing up that team, and even that is probably a stretch. Even if CKII DLC sales was to slowdown to a halt it would probably still be around for another year, so I can't imagine a Rome II being before 2017.

Surprise me paradox.

Yes I believe this will be the case, the team is tied up for 2014 as far as I know working on more DLC. And going off the new longer development process, I'd guess 2016 would be the earliest timeline for a release of Rome 2.

Okay.. well, maybe I've been finally converted to believing into the new thing. Thank you Nyrael for the patience to explain things.

What I don't like about DLC, is how some events DLC feel quite blanck. In CK2, LOR, there often is no, or little choices for the player, with small consequences. In EUIV, Muslim events just make the faith aspect quite pointless (wipe out infidels or conquer Muslims); the events alone are more than enough to make you tend to any path regardless of who you attack. As for the Byzantines, I did not played them much so far (quick and painful game over), but it seems to be built on the same model; while the pentarchy idea is interesting in terms of gameplay, it seems to easy to choose wich way you want to go with. Some more depth would have been welcome.

Some CK2 DLC feel a bit quite unfinished as well; they made some playable pagans, with hardly any uniqueness/flavor in it. I did not had this feeling with games built on old models; except perhaps for pagans (special mention to Kongo, the most annoying country to play) in EU III and the handful isolated tribes in Rome (max speed until you get stomped... While hoping not to get sacked by barbarian doomstacks on the loose).

I am hoping it is a reference to the ancient gods of Rome and therefore a hint that the secret project will be Rome II. Whether they are actually "older" than the Norse gods may not be the case though...

Maybe it's the Sumerian gods hehe

Rome is a boring period of history. I want to go back to the Stone Age.

Psshhh stone age is weaksauce, why not go back to the Jurassic and control packs of migrating dinos and vie for the control of feeding grounds!

Uh-oh !

PDS is happy to present:
My name is: Rikard Åslund
My forum nick is: Zoft
At Paradox development studio I work as: Senior Programmer
So what do I do, really – what does that mean? I sit and write code all day long, it is awesome! My most recent responsibility was working with randomization of the new world in EUIV: Conquest of Paradise.
I have worked on: Sengoku, Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV.
Right now I´m working on: Project Augustus.

Well i may be enthusiastic, but ... could it be an intentional leak on one of the "super-mega-fragiliscus" project ? :D
If anyone has some infos on this "project augustus" (well it could be something already existing and i'm not aware of it).
