Factions
The Romans:
Dalmatia: Former Western Emperor Julius Nepos is still alive, clinging to all the Western Empire has left. Can he survive, beat back the barbarians and win the Empire?
Tangiers: You are a small Roman Outpost now trapped on its own. Surrounded by enemies on all sides, this small bastion of Roman power will soon be destroyed.
Byzantium: Emperor Zenon is a foreign ruler, a native Isaurian formerly named Tarasis. Now, with the Sassanids at their height, and the Ghassanids conversion to Monophytism, the Eastern Empire may fall like the West
The Roman Senate: The Senate still survives under Odoacer's iron thumb. If lucky, the weak Senate may rise up against its oppressors, and Rome may be reborn in its truest state: Republic
The Barbarians
Tribe of Alans: The Alans are everywhere, and these highly migratory people have been seen in France, Spain, and Armenia. Will their chieftains now lead them to a permanent home, or is there no hope for these landless peoples.
Crimea: The Crimean Goths have conquered Crimea from its former "owners" and are prepared to make the historically longest lasting Gothic society. Will the Goths remain pagan, or will they create a new Eastern Arian power. Another route lays in the native Bosporans, who practice a bizarre, "Cult of the Highest God", unlike any religion in the world.
The Picts: The Picts fought back the Romans, but now invaders come in on all sides, Saxons, Anglos, Christians all seek to take and change Pictland, and will the Picts embrace new ways, or fight to the end.
The Germans: Thurngia, Alamannia, Salia, all these Barbarians played their part in ending Rome, now, a struggle is taking place to fill the power void. Will the young Clovis unite the Germans, or perhaps it shall be forged with Rugilander steel?
Geatland: The Geats refrained from costly escapades in the British Isles, and they remain a people isolate. Will the Geats preserve their culture and heritage, or will the Swedes come to rule Scandinavia?
Lazica: In a display of perhaps insanity, the King of Lazica renounced the Georgian Orthodox Church, and began practicing Zoroastrianism. Though he in all reason fail in his quest, he may push into the Steppes, and bring the Flame to the Germans.
Other "Christians"
Odoacer: Odoacer seems doomed, nearby, the usurper Theodoric the Great plans to invade Italy, with Byzantine backing. Will this Germanic warlord repel the Ostrogoths, or will the Goths dominate the world?
The Britons: The vile Saxons have invaded the Briton's land, and Arthur is not to be seen, there is no united kingdom to fight the Saxons, and with the departure of the Romans there is little military. It is only barely possible, that a Pendragon will ride, and save Britain from the Pagans
Ghassanids: The Ghassanids have been a buffer state for a long time now, and with their conversion to Monophytism, things have been tense with the Byzantines. But now the Ghassanids are free to persue their own goals, and perhaps rule the entire peninsula.
Axum: Axum is failing, and the empire is losing ground. Can the Axumite Emperor rise up again, and defy the Byzantines and their convoluted councils?
The Other Faiths
Himyar: The Himyarites have monumentally defeated the Sabeans after centuries of warfare, but now the fledgling Jewish state is already facing collapse. If you only allies in Kindah fall, so will Himyar.
