I was kind of disappointed the Roman Empire was not in-game. I would make sense for it to be able to be formed by Byzantium, or possibly some other Roman Successor state. The files are there, I see they have their own EU4 based ideas too. It would be great if they exist.

If you want just give me a link or a quote from wikipedia and we end the discussion..
Both "Western Roman Empire" and "Eastern Roman Empire" (or "Byzantine Empire") are modern terms describing de facto independent entities; however, at no point did Romans consider the Empire split into two, but rather considered it a single state governed by two separate Imperial courts out of administrative expediency.

I made a new thread with a detailed proposal for the "Make Rome" deicision since this 1 wasnt going anywhere, everyone can feel free to continue debating the validity of byzantine claims here.

Well... I read some posts where I found that the empire was officially split at a point.. I think I'll search more info tomorrow

they're probably referring to the final time there were two emperors (the roman empire actually did this many times) and the west fell less than 100 years later during the migration period.

I'm honestly not a history proffesor.. I know what I know because I learned by myself.. So I can be wrong sometimes.
I don't really know if what you say is correct, but anyway noone is perfect and anyone can do mistakes
Now I'm going to check anatur's thread. I invite you too :p
