I wonder when it will be possible to merge all these Paradox games into one single mega-game spanning the entire timeline of all of Paradox's games? It would be awesome to play as some mud slinging tribe in 0AD and then be a global superpower in the 19th century.

Considering how easy it is to blob in Paradox games, there'd only be one country for half the game.

No. It would be the equivalent of me liking both Star Wars and Star Trek and since both are in space, just merge them together. Oh but wait there are games like Mass Effect and Galactic Civilizations that should also be put into the mix. And so should Pokémon as well since they are also not based on reality. Yeah mix them all up and spit out a single game.

Almost exist and called "Civilization" ;)
That's said I would like to see it also. But we'll probably need to wait a decade at least before be able to get such kind of game (to reach enough power and AI development)

A possible mechanism for preventing blobbing would be to add in communications distance as a limiter.

The larger a country gets the harder it is to keep it intact. This range would be extended as time progresses and communications capabilities improve.

Instead of melting everything they should separate their games. Victoria 2 and Heart of Iron IV have fitting mechanics because they cover such small amount of time, but CK2 covers 684 years while EU4 covers 377 years. Because division of time periods is unlikely to happen it is always fun to to theorize what periods deserve their of game and what mechanics should they have.

769-1000 (231 years) - Dark Ages game centered around migration, viking raids and rising feudalism.
1000-1260 (260 years) - High Middle Ages game centered around the crusades, feudalism and the Mongol Invasion, almost like original CK2.
1260-1492 (232 years) - Late Medieval game centered around spread of gunpowder, decline of Mongol states.
1492-1701 (209 years) - Game that centers around rise of the west, colonization, spread of reformation and decline of feudalism, similar to EU4.
1701-1836 (135 years) - Game that centers around enlightenment, colonial independence wars and revolutionary ideals. Mix between MoTE and VIC2.

In the first Stellaris DD Doomdark did say
Now, as you may know, our ambition is to eventually cover the entire "human timeline" with our games...

I don't imagine this could be done in a single game, since the mechanics needed to accurately represent each era are totally different (imagine trying to represent the Vicky 2 timeline with CK2 gameplay). However, this could be done by linking their games together as has been done with CK2 and EU4 (and preveiously with EU3 and Vicky 2). Since we already have those games, and HoI 4 is on the way, that leaves only the "rise of civilizations" era (beginning of written history to fall of rome) the industrial revolution (Vicky 3?) and a "modern times" (cold war to near future) after which the timeline would be covered by Stellaris. This assumes there won't be a prehistoric Paradox game because I don't see that being very compelling grand strategy (there is nothing particularly grand about a bunch of illiterate tribes-people trying to not get eaten by bears/lions/tigers/their neighbours) although as a city-builder there is potential. If this were done I think some anti-blobbing mechanics would need to be added/tweaked to make blobbing less practical in any one game, and China would have to be covered somehow, however China's feudal era began well before Europe's so it wouldn't quite fit in CK2 properly, which is the game that would handle it best mechanic-wise.

honestly, even if there were a limit to blobbability, it would be boring as hell. Both because there's a player-proof blobbing limit by necessity, but also because after a little while we have generic nations and generic everything. Starting in 0 AD we aren't even guaranteed that the the major religions that shaped the world (or defined the cultures that shaped the world) will even exist.

Everything will become arbitrary to death, really.

This isn't mentioning the mind-boggling effort required to make mechanics for this game - the development costs would be astronomical while the sales would more-or-less be comparable to other paradox games. And the amount of data it would need to generate and store is also mind-boggling, especially since you would either need enough data to generate pops for the industrial era, or have pops the whole time. Or you would have to cut out the pops mechanic (at which point sales would be lost, including mine).
