We already know that the dates in EU:R are in AUC...

But it seems from the screenshots that Paradox uses standard English month names, which lacks style. Solution: use Roman names for months! (but not the whole calendar system, which would be confusing).

Brilliant idea. It may confuse some players, but probably no more than the dating method currently being used for the year.

It's a shame that it's unlikely you will have months named after extremely successful leaders though (like Augustus - August). Would make a brilliant event though, sort of like being made a saint in CK.

well, going even further there are codes to convert a date in the roman calendar. The only problem would be to place the "mensis intercalari" every two or three years to correct the 355 days year. But it can be an event too or automatic (of course one can consider : what has the Seleucid Empire to do with the roman calendar ?)

Clearly what we need is a different interface for all major cultural groups. In the same way as in EU, if one were to play something outside Europe, it should have a cultural feel to it. Although, I am unsure how to cope with culture that did not have writing...

However, this is a development nightmare. In the same way as EU is about Europe, Rome is about well, Rome. I can see the benefits of having a unified interface in one language.

Cool. Depending on how the dates are kept internally (seconds since 1970?... Oh wait) this maybe even possible.

Of course, we do need an Asterix et Obelix mod with Babaorum, Aquarium, Petitbonum et bien sure le quatrième qui m'echape... That's like five region in Arnor. There must be a mini-mod for that.

True that. On the other side, the game is called Rome, and not Seleucid Empire, eh? Additionaly, the game uses AUC already.

EDIT: Wiki'd it. There is an "Attic Calendar" which seems interesting.
EDIT 2: Actually, they used a Macedonian Calendar.

Don't forget to start the year on April 21st -- otherwise your gonna have lots of events that fire on the wrong years! Remeber Aprilis 20th 2760 ACU = April 20th 2008 AD while Aprilis 25th 2760 ACU was April 25th of 2007! -- This is confusing, but its how most historical data is presented!

That wouldn't be such a bad idea. Also making it so a modder had the option of displaying dates in BC/AD instead of AUC would be nice too! Nicest of all would the the option to write events using the BC/AD dates and have the game convert them automatically.

yes roman names for the months would be amazing, but i think this is something that can be modded in. probably for the sake of commercial appeal, i'm guessing they'll stick with english names...Johan and his team need to eat too :rofl:
