As an independent megaduke, I can apparently act as guardian to my firstborn (currently a son), but no-one else.

Educating my other children (and others)

When arranging a wardship via the diplomacy screen for my other children, I find that someone automatically appears as my proposed guardian. Even if I then click and select myself, after a while, my child will disappear from from court and appear as a ward of the person whom the game originally wanted to assign as guardian. I can then re-assign myself as guardian, but after a while, he will go back to the other guardian.

The same applies to any children at my court, not just my own. I have tried with all my sons and with daughters of courtiers. Except for the firstborn, something wonky seems to be happening.

I am the ultimate liege of all of the educators (and the children) and they all have my religion and culture.

We are aware of the issue and are currently looking for a solid reproduction case for it, as we have found it to be very random. But rest assured we are on it!

Still exists in 2.1.4 (as incidentally that children not of your dynasty in your court aren't notified to you)

The problem seems to be that sometimes the game decides your court isn't your court - so it starts automatically assigning guardians (ignoring your own demands). It will also stop notifying you of departures.

Reloading 'may' fix the problem.

Yeah, bug still persist but it is on the to-do list for the programmers. I can't however give any eta but I'll try to push harder for them to fix this.

Having this with my vassals' children in particular. It seems that whenever I attempt to assign a guardian of my culture -- either myself, or someone from my court -- to my other-culture-vassal's child, the vassal accepts happily, then switches the guardian to their own culture as soon as possible.

Happy to provide a save where it's guaranteed to happen, if it helps.

Here's how it occurs....

I select a courtier's child at six, and the engine decides on someone as educator/guardian. If that person is in my court, OR a baron/bishop/mayor WITHIN my home county, then it doesn't matter if I overrule, the engine will auto-switch back to its original choice almost immediately, without fail. However, if I select a vassal, outside my county whether it be duke/count/baron/bishop/mayor then the choice I make will invariably stick, as the courtier will then be classed as `abroad`.

It's a PIA at present, because I like to establish Fighter, Spy and Steward servant houses...e.g. The Von Gent line are always fighters...annoying when the game keeps assigning them priest teachers....

Anyways, hope this helps.
