If you are constantly selling metals, I can see that. However, it does naturally rise to about 8-9 in the beta for me. I think the more AIs you have, the more it will rise.

How many empires do you have and how big are your galaxies?

Umm, it is? The previous poster was claiming to consistently sell alloys for 10 a unit which is enough to make energy a non-issue.

You can't do that any more. The ol' "Scam the galactic market never build energy districts" gambit doesn't work anymore.

iam playing on the beta and the behavior is still the same. The AI seems so Programm to buy alloys in mass over the time when they have a shortage ( which often happen ). You can test it yourself with handsoff and make save at every 10 years. It is not uncommon that the alloy Price is climbing up to 10 per unit and yourself DONT have to spam it. Constant selling over the mechanic on a Monthly base keeps the Price constant. PDX scaled the scamming down and with montlhy buy/selling you can stablize it.

That's why I'm surprised at these comments. I'm sitting here even as a post tabbing back into the game watching someone buying up and selling alloys. The price keeps fluctuating up and down, so someone else is selling alloys besides me. And there's not enough buying to soak it all up.

You must be thinking of Pre 2.2 where you could put specific pops on specific tiles & it worked fine. Now it will just choose any job it wants. The only way to reasonably specialize pops is a per planet basis and even then the template selector has a habit of just not staying locked to 1 type of robot. Also how do you intend to specialize for alloys? With the trait you made up in your mind?

That's not even to mention that resource bonus traits got weaker in the 2.2 jump, as even repeatable tech now provide a larger boost than traits AND ME don't even get the harvesters/propganda trait to make better use of Farmers & Unity producers. They don't even get new traits from Synth Age, unlike Gene Ascension which gets more.

Except it doesn't, because AI prioritization is terrible, and even if I fill each job one at a time, it will still put energy bots in the mines, and mining bots in complex drone jobs. This is why I argued that gestalts should be able to manually drag their pops around their planets however they dxmn well please, like pre 2.2, so you could work around the AI being the AI.

Key phrase: supposed to. Which means that when that scenario occurs, the AI should do what you said it will. But it doesn't. Per pop specialization was the single best part of machine empires before the update, and that's something we lost that we shouldn't have.



Also, where are the space unicorns that Wiz promised us by 2.2?

No. Gestalt POPs will instantly demote. It's really a handy advantage they have.

Here's a save.

I ran this save for five years buying or selling nothing on the galactic market at all. Alloys went from 4.80 to 5.56 with significant bouncing between prices. That's a price gain of 0.152 EC per year. I suppose if I left the market alone for long enough, I could get the price up to 10 in another 29 years.

Try it for yourself and see if you get different results from my save. I don't run mods, and despite having just wiped out an FE, there are plenty of regular empires that still exist.

Playing assimilators, so I start the game off with bots and organics tailored to specific jobs, and I've tried a couple different builds. And while it's nowhere near as strong as when we had tiles (and could build on demand or manually assign them) it hasn't been *that* bad. It does prioritize Complex jobs over Menial jobs though. (Also, something I found annoying: the bonus to workers for Strong does not apply to drone jobs, so gestalts with organic drones get less utility from that trait.)

The real problem is that it builds them randomly. So if you've got a mining planet with no energy jobs, you either have to force it to build *all* mining bots (where you would like at least a couple research specialists for the Admin jobs, or maybe some Emulators for the maintenance jobs) or you let it build randomly and sometimes get an energy bot on your mining planet.
