So, it's kind of two topics, but they're both within the field of political economy, barely;
How will robotics be represented? IRL, they're already playing a huge role, and there are those economists predicting ridiculously high rates of unemployment due to them. Given how powerful something like a von Neumann probe could be, as soon as mastered, how will Stellaris tackle the economics side of things, if at all? Will POPs be tied to production and things, to keep gameplay working ok, or would it be possible, even advantageous to create a robot economy? Personally, I think an actual robot economy being replicated in Stellaris would be really cool, and could even avoid a lot of the mess with social policy which is necessary in poorer eras of history.

And government; how absolute will our command be? Would it be possible, say, to have a legislature with different political parties in it and different voting systems, like Vicky 2? Might there be a judiciary that restricts us from doing constitutionally illegal things? And, the economy, will we be some kind of omnipresent hivemind, or will there be systems we can take aboard, i.e. capitalism, socialism, communism, and that we can affect through policies and things? It would be nice to have a government system as filled-in as Vicky II's, but I'm wondering if it's possible or planned.

For robots, they mentioned AI revolts as a few times as one of the possibilities for the end-game super-disasters. They haven't talked much about how the economy works, but the more I think about it, it makes sense to implement robots as pops. They would displace organic workers in factories or whatever it is pops do, they could replace troops in your military (assuming the manpower system works like it does in victoria 2), maybe they could even be used for the 'character' slots - an supercomputer AI to serve as a governor, or something like that.

It would be pretty funny if you could pull a Xerxes and by sheer laziness accidentally program an AI to be your eternal overlord.

It could be a bit like Total Annihilation, where the robots have been programmed to fight each other and autonomously build and stuff, even after their creators are extinct

Yeah, like that, except more spacey. I also now realise that I meant Planetary Annilihation, not Total Annilihation.

oh wow a spiritual sequel to total annilihation and supreme commander? god damn i wish i knew about this sooner. i love those games. (still have both on CD somewhere)
