I wonder if it will be possible to replace all your pops with robots: purging your old main species and conquering the galaxy as an AI robotic empire with no organic allowed to live...

By that point I would hazard that you have lost ontological continuity and are no longer the same empire. It's like the Ottomans claiming to be Rome.
Just because you have the same capital and hold the same territories don't make you the same.

No but that is literally possible in stellaris, you could have your entire race go extinct but as long as you had other loyal POPs it wouldn't be game over, just a new chapter in your empire's history really.

Hm. Wiz named that in his tweet an "Exploit" from the Q&A. It >could< be removed from the release version i guess.

No the exploit he talked about was that uplifted species get a permanent POP happiness bonus, so making them the only species would mean that all your POPs were always super happy, which meant good production, no factions, et cetera. That was the bug, which could probably be solved by making that modifier be removed if they become the "main species"

The exploit was uplifting primitive species and then purge your main pop, this because the uplifted pop had a permanent buff to happiness.

Which is similar to replacing your old pop with robots.

By that point I would hazard that you have lost ontological continuity and are no longer the same empire. It's like the Ottomans claiming to be Rome.
Just because you have the same capital and hold the same territories don't make you the same.

I agree, but i never stated that i would consider my empire the same it was before the transition from an organic empire to a robotic one.

I also wonder how many chance of rebellion will i have in a totally robotic empire, when the infamous endgame disaster of rogue AI happens.

Should my robotic pop revolt for no reason? Remember that before doing this switch (organic->robotic) i should have already sentients robot with full rights.

Or should my empire be considered THE endgame disaster? Since i will be an utopian paradise for all the other robots across the galaxy and a nightmare for all the other organic pop.

At least early on, there are probably things your AI pops aren't going to be very good at (or capable of at all, perhaps), such as generating leaders. It would only make sense to have an all robot empire if those robots have the full rights of first class citizens, which I'm pretty sure requires a certain level of tech.

Well... okay.
My point was that doing what you suggested should Game Over you. Because your empire has lost. It's gone, eaten away from within by soulless machines.
I think you could effectively do what you want by allowing an AI revolt, quitting, selecting the revolt, and playing as them.

That's just, like, your opinion, man.
This is the best answer ever thought by mankind, seriously The Big Lebowsky is an awesome movie, but just with this quote it became an epic movie :D

But do Androids dream of electric sheep?

No Blade Runners allowed in my robotic empire :p they shall be purged with all the other organic ;)

But Wiz said that replacing all your original species was an exploit, soooooo...

My point was that doing what you suggested should Game Over you. Because your empire has lost. It's gone,

No your empire is still very much there, it's just inhabited by different people, something that can happen not only with robots, but with conquered species, uplifted citizens, and intentional genetic/cybernetic enhancement of your original race to the point of them no longer being who they once were.

Seriously this isn't CK2, you don't play as a character, or in this case, a species.
It's more like EU4, you play as the nation, regardless of whom "rules" it.

Which is how it should be in a Sci-Fi setting, because getting a game over for not "staying racially pure" would be stupid.

Or you could include them as regular citizens and not worry about any of it. Well, you would still worry about it of course, just not anymore than standard, organic citizens.

I am aware of this possibility. I am simply stating that I'd prefer the ability to fine tune my robotic citizenry simply because I wish to. Including them as full citizens has it's own appeal, but I'd still rather not build nothing but replicator grade robots everywhere.

In a hundred years time, I will be dead and some other scientist will exist in my place. Whether that scientist is my great-granddaughter, some human from somewhere else entirely, a machine or a squid-eyed beetle alien, I will be happy to call them my heir. Similarly, whomever follows in the footsteps of human civilisation is an honorary human, at least to me, and I want to play as them.
