Trying to work out how robots work in the megacorp update (555a) so i can plan my colonies better. The wiki information seems out of date despite containing some references to megacorp.

When I got droid technology my robots gained ability to do jobs that they couldn't do before including specialist ones which is incorrect on the wiki.

* Does anyone know what jobs droids cannot do?
* Droids have option for a modification "Domestic Protocols" which says "Can be employed in Servant Jobs if under AI Servitude". Does anyone know what "Servant Jobs" are? Can't find a reference of it anywhere on the wiki or web search.

What I can confirm from my game so far:

Droids can work worker jobs: Clerk, Technician
Droids can work specialist jobs: Enforcer, Roboticist, Artisan, Gas Refiner (from this I assume droids can work other manufacturing buildings like crystal and mote buildings as well).
Have yet to confirm any droids assigned to: Researcher, Culture Worker, Entertainer, Soldier.

Since the game seems to like to equally distribute pops between jobs and some of my planets are dedicated research labs or have many culture jobs that are unfilled by robots I can only speculate that droids may not be able to do these roles. I have no holo-theatres or strongholds though so no way to test those.

Still haven't figured out what Domestic Protocols "Servant Jobs" is referring to. Considering it gives 20% amenity production perhaps holo-theatre's entertainer jobs?

When a droid is unemployed and has Domestic Protocols it will not actually be unemployed, but will create a new specialist tier job called a "Servant". This does not require any special buildings.

On a note the job allocations appear to be strange. I have created a droid with the unity bonus (Propaganda something?) and the Domestic Protocols and it chose to be a "Servant", while there were Enforcer jobs that were occupied by excess Farming droids and some normal organic population were unemployed. So a "do everything" robot / droid/ synthetic seems to confuse automatic job allocation.

So far I've found the following jobs that each mechanical population can take:
Robots: Farmer, Miner, Extractor (eg: Motes, Gas)
Droids: Farmer, Miner, Extrator, Enforcer, Servant (with Domestic Protocols)

So far, I have not seem mechanical pops take up these jobs (but this doesn't meant they can't... the just have so far):
Robots: Technicians, Clerks, any specialist or rulers.
Droids: Priests, Cultural Workers, Researchers, any rulers.

I believe that robots and above an occupy Soldier jobs as you can make armies with them (as long as the species rights is set as such).

Thanks heaps EvilTom. Very insightful. So "Servant" Jobs is basically a nice way of saying "Unemployed Slaves". Out of interest what do they produce when droids are unemployed? Is it the same output as regular unemployed domestic servitude slaves, amenities?

Seems out of place Robots or Droids may not be able to work Unity buildings considering from the get go they can get a modification, Propaganda Machines to boost unity generation by 15% and the fact that droids seem to have no problem generating unity as an Enforcer.

I think the servant job is more like a robot butler, cleaner, childcare etc. rather than just an unemployed slaves. I believe Droids with Domestic Protocols can also work as Entertainers in Holo-Theatres. It is also mildly implied that Droids with domestic protocols may engage in more carnal pursuits, so take that as you want and what "amenities" you may gain from that.

Robots and Droids which do not have Domestic Protocols are unemployed like any other population with no benefits, if there are no jobs to do. They do appear to more-often-than-not occupy a worker slot at the expense of an organic pop, so you are more likely going to have unemployed workers organics, than unemployed

I have also found that droids are more likely going to displace organics as enforcers too (even at the expense of better organics with unity bonuses), which is a little frustrating. I'm not sure if this is intended. This can lead to unemployed specialists, which can be counter intuitive when we don't have crime busting or war robots traits we can build (unless you're a machine empire).

On an extra note, I know that the social welfare gives unemployed pops unity bonus. Can you give social welfare to synthetics?
