I've been watching every video of gameplay I could find lately, and I'm very excited about the game and I'm glad I pre-ordered it from day one,

HOWEVER

Here are a few things that IMHO need to change or fixed so that we could have a better experience

We should be able to choose the amount of lanes we want to have in our freeways. So far, they are only 3x3 freeways (three lanes per direction for the non initiated), but what about smaller ones like 2x2 freeways or larger like 4x4 or even 5x5 ?

Also, their presence in maps seem totally unrealistic. I mean when you look at an empty map, you see these freeways going to all directions in an empty space, it just doesn't make sence. I would rather have a REGULAR 1x1 road for the outside connection than a 3x3 freeway which doesn't seem to make much sence. It would be better if an outside connection freeway connection just pops out now and then at an edge of a map, so that we could link it as we wish and so that we could build our freeways as we wish.

For freeways, we need acceleration/deceleration lanes at interchanges too. Right now, interchanges just don't look good.

I also noticed pedestrian stripes at the end of the freeway interchange at the entrance of the city, where the road transitions from freeway access ramp to road. This does not make sence either and it will have to be changed

I hope there will be a roads DLC that will fix that or that mods will fix that too. Otherwise, the game seems to be the city builder i've been waiting for for ages :)

Yes, i suggested that there should be a slider under each road type that allows a number of lanes from 1 to 6, like you can have 1 to 6 lane one way roads, 1 to 6 lane expressways, 1 to 3 lane - 1 to 3 lane unidirectional roads/avenues, 3 lane on/off-ramps for the expressways and the sliders where supposed to be under each road type, and have a smooth list of one road type, with sliders for lane numbers, instead of having a long list of same road type with another option with more lanes, but you know... publisher pressure
(suggestion was with a different username)

This is a great idea; I'd just say it should be up to 10 lanes though. There are actually some 20 lane highways out there.

I'd like for there to be acceleration/deceleration lanes instead of the big gaps also.

Road sliders existed in the map editor for CiM2, but strangely enough the developer decided to bin it for in game and you had to select roads by reading a very messy UI popup. You could edit if a road had parking spaces and bus lanes as well something which needs to be in Skylines!

Menus/sliders should go as follows:

Two-Way > Bus lane Y/N > Parking Y/N > Lanes 1-6
One-Way > Bus lane Y/N > Parking Y/N > Lanes 1-6
Highway > Bus lane Y/N > Lanes 6-12 (or whatever)
Pedestrian Road (will be a standard two lane two-way road)

Is there going to be a "road map" view like SC4 had? I think that would be a neat view. Kind of like Google Maps or something similar where it colour codes roads?

Added by me
On/off ramp > Lanes 1-3
Depending on the direction you drag the road to (it is basically a one way road with different textures and some speed coding for cars), the cars would slow or accelerate, so if you drag it out of the highway, it will act as a offramp and cars will slow, if you drag it towards a highway it will act as an onramp and cars would accelerate

Pedestrian Road (will be a standard two lane two-way road)

THIS! One billion internets to you! This must be the road editing system in the first place!
I suggest you post your idea here too http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...read-of-things-they-like-to-add-after-release.

Also the developers should really really really code the roundabouts so that the game knows that it's a roundabout, like, add another road type called roundabout, and make it a one way road, but this road will require you to make a loop, which acts as the roundabout and all cars in it have priority while cars that ender the loop must give way! Some thing like:

Roundabout > Bus lane Y/N > Lanes 1-6

Actually modders could make perfect roundabout circles and hopefully be able to set the priority rules of it, but it is wishful thinking

What's with the 1-way roads that lead into the cities on starting a new map? This makes for a really awkward start where you have to join the roads together with T-intersections. Very odd.

Erm, so where you live, do cars travel the wrong way onto a highway? That's required to ensure the direction is correctly set. Don't seem odd to me.

I agree sort of, but they're there just to start you off and can be deleted and replaced later in the game. I need to play it first to see if it's a big issue for me.

At the risk of offending people it was one of the few things the Cities XL series got right, pick the road you want and drag it to the map edge to create a connection.
