So when I watched the stream I noticed that the plot size is 4 in length from the road and out. Is this the maximum length? Or will you be able to make even bigger buildings? Also, what happens if you build two roads parallel with eachother making a 8 length plot in total? Will you be able to make super huge buildings this way, or will the buildings just stay at 4 length on both roads.

TL;DR

How big will the biggest building be? tile-vise

It seems that some buildings are less than four tiles in length, there were some small two tile deep homes built on the more awkwardly shaped corner plots. I agree that larger buildings should really occupy more than four tiles, but for all we know they might as we haven't seen any office towers or high density retail up close in any gameplay footage yet. I hope larger buildings can develop, for example the larger department stores and factories in CIM2. We already know that certain player built buildings are larger than four tiles. CIM2 buildings were generally realistically scaled, but the four tile deep limitation in cities skylines may cause some buildings to appear 'squashed'. There were some factories built on the live stream that were one of the large CIM2 factories that had been shortened to fit into a 4x4 grid, it just didn't look right.

I also noticed wasted space on the curved roads, the tiles had some space between them when they could have been closer.

Exactly, but, as the roads has plot tiles automatically, and I didnt see any road have more than 4 tiles in length... That brings the question if the largest buildings will be 4xZ large. That isnt playermade.

I also noticed wasted space on the curved roads, the tiles had some space between them when they could have been closer.

Yes I noticed this too, and I was kinda hoping to be able to put beautifications there (maybe even automatically?), or "merge" neighboring plots together, and putting trees, playgrounds and other stuff in between the merged plots that doesnt become a building? Dont know if I explained that good but, I hope you get the rough picture

Yeah, I was wondering this in another thread. TotallyMoo clarified plopables but I still wonder what the maximum zoned size would be: 4x8? 8x8? 4x4 wouldn't work too hot for skyscrapers IMHO.

Hi! The maximum size of the zoned building is 4x4 with much variation starting from small 1x1 houses. The bigger buildings are under player's control and those exceed the 4x4 slot (like most of the skyscrapers). How about we write the next dev diary about the zoning? I'll have game designer Henkka (co_fiirdraak) answer your questions then!

Oh okey! Cool. So most skyscrapers are player placeable? But can we expect smaller skyscrapers to be zoned buildings? Will there be larger buildings for all the different zones?

I'm a bit torn myself too... I want the largest buildings to be player placeable, like the huuuuge ones.. but if MOST the skyscrapers are player placeable... then I'm not sure if I like that idea. Thats why I want to know more about this

Just read the latest update. Sounds like we have the choice of left or right hand traffic. So glad to hear this. Living in the UK I always wanted to see the traffic move on the left but have never had the option until now.

Smaller ones yes! The ones that fit nicely on the 4x4 grid ;)

So I can (if I want) place a really huge skyscraper in the middle of my nice residential suburb ? OK it doesn't make sense, but I am asking myself what function or zone are these ploppable bigger than 4x4 skyscrapers. Commercials, Offices, Residentials - and how do they fit into a zone ? Are these ploppables actually places where Cims go to work or to live ? Or are they only tourist attractions without any special function ? Questions upon questions ..

Is there any chance for larger developments if you have a tight road square where the zone overlap? For example in SC4 Although residential would only normally be placed in 1x2 or 1x3 blocks, high density buildings grab multiple adjacent small zones (facing different directions) and clump them into a big zone for the larger tower.

Will these ploppable skyscrapers have in-game utility beyond tourism? Will they actually hold people and jobs?

I really would like to see my question answerded. Because in SC4 I always saw the zoned skyscrapers as some sort of reward for my well organized city or city district (what reflected a very high land value in these zones). These rewards aka representation of very high land values would be taken off with ploppables skyscrapers... and I have to admit that I don't like the idea. I wonder if you have a good explanation for ploppable skyscrapers.
