Dear expansion devs,
Roads. How are they represented in EU3? There were province events concerning roads in EU3 prior to HTTT, but in this last expansion 'Expand road network' was added as a prominent province decision (and rather demanding in terms of micromanagement, as you are well aware). The earlier events however, were not removed.
While you could argue that the text accompanying the event 'Road Constructions' is merely flavor, and that a similarly themed province decision does not somehow invalidate a nice base-tax increasing event, I am of a different opinion.
I think this is sloppy and inconsistent design. Adding new features is great and all, but it is a mark of true craftsmanship to mesh them in neatly with what is already there. Similar situations exist with event texts mentioning or affecting heirs, dynasties or regencies while the actual representations of them are unchanged.
With the development of the upcoming expansion again in new hands (Doomdark and Brother Bean were mostly responsible for HTTT if I understood correctly, Besuchov and Birken seem to be most involved with Divine Wind) I hope that they will pay a little more consideration to issues like these. Daimyos and dynasties, shogun's authority and legitimacy, and all the other neat features you're working on: please make sure that you're not inadvertantly crossing into terrain that's already covered. Or if you do, change or remove the old event or whatever if it no longer makes sense.
I realise that going over hundreds or thousands of events and decisions is a lot of work, but I think it is the kind of polish that would really please many long-time EU3 players.
Yours,
Junuxx
