Also one of my favorite things about I:R is making stylish road connections and while it might not make sense to be able to do it as dynamically, I'd still like to see it here somehow.
What would be the point? Will there a road build options in CK3 ? maybe only capital to capital, would be nice to see in map.
Er...the game goes outside of Europe. The majority of major roads that exist in Europe today where built by the Roman Empire. I imagine there's no need for a road-building mechanic as a result.

Today, as in 2020? That is definitely not the case. They had 372 great roads, and Sweden alone (which wasn't even under Roman authority) has over 100 today.
It is indeed the case. I don't mean to say that every road was built by Rome, but that the majority of Europe's major arteries were originally built by Rome. Most of the modern roads you speak of were built between the Renaissance and our present day, not in the period the game covers. Surely smaller roads might have been run out by carts and such, but we're speaking on the grand strategy scale; the kind of roads armies would march on. Those would have almost exclusively been Roman roads during this time.
to expand on this; maybe the integration of roads is important for kingdoms and empires; say if you take some land with no decent path for trade or flow of information between it and your lands, the lords there would have an opinion modifier, and locals would have an unrest penalty for not being connected to the rest of the lands.Even if they were built by the Romans, they still needs maintenance, so you absolutely can rebuild the roads or build new ones. I say a road system is very nice. Can increase troop speed, facilitate spread of technology, increase trade values, or even increase the diplomatic range. I think building roads will be fun. The grand boulevard from Iberia to the Holy Land that let Crusaders travel faster. Also something for the Merchant Republic to sink their massive treasury into. Add monthly maintenance so they can't be spammed.
Very strategic. Many thoughts. Such wow.
... and here, the trade network used during the middle ages.

The medieval road map is awasome, yeah true roads no need every city/holding (because too much roads looks bad on map), just major city should have roads and gave bonus like silk road / roman roads etc...
This part I won't argue. To clarify, if someone were to say "Most of the medieval roads were originally built by the Romans," then I won't argue with them. But if someone were to say "Most of the modern-day roads were originally built by the Romans," that's when I'd argue.![]()
Much, perhaps most, of world history is based on building on top of what has come before (figuratively and literally) rather than creating something new ex nihilo, after all. But if we accept in the game that there's the possibility that various groups on the margins, such as Slavic tribal pagans, can reform their religion and even build an empire to rival Rome, why shouldn't they be able to build new roads as the Romans did?Fair, I could have worded it differently. The way I should have put it is that the road network established by Rome is still clearly present and utilized to this day.
