Risk Battle Mod Counry Descriptions and Introduction

~Writers Wanted~ Project completed am moving to publishing !! Thanks to all contributors. :D

Here following is the Risk Battle Mod Theme introduction and description of less than half of the 55 countries in the mod.

If any writer is inclined to read all these and gets the theme and then write out any country descriptions not yet done or add to the shorter ones.

Please do and post on this thread.

RISK BATTLE MOD is set in an altered world of prosperity and world trade unspoiled in accomplishment since victory of Napoleon at Waterloo. Risk Battle Mod starts 1930 game time and can go to 1960.The Watchers is a hands-off test mode, not meant to be played. There are 55 countries worldwide each unique enough by size and location. Yet the starting OOB is equal to every country except Pacific Fire which has double the naval OOB. All start with the same techs and all have fairly good tech teams. All that is available on land, sea and air works for the AI's, even nukes (I hope), excepting paratroopers and transport planes which are only available to the human player. Historians generally agree an all out world war requires the combination of several factors, the most important being idealistic naivety and enough wealth to argue over the rest of it. Find your way but beware for the longer the wars last unfettered the more harsh the combatants are likely to become. Much of the Risk World is not as it appears, due to the Cartels firm hold on evey government on earth. When various governments have put to much pressure on the International Trade Guilds, they have mysteriously fallen from power to be replaced by a government more in favor of the Guilds. Black markets also abound, so goods, services, even mercenaries can move through what is termed porous borders. It is expected that the Guilds would support every side in case of war, just as they have with armed disputes of the past.

Afghanistan has always been a region hard to conquer, and was never fully submitted by any of the great powers. However the tone of battle must change for the Afghan peoples. Now the battle shall fly forward, to all that surround her. Afghanistan must no longer rely on resistance to invaders, but become the invader, and fly forward and onward to bring true dominance to this region under the best warriors. Persia to the west will fall as quickly as it did to Alexander, Tibet to the east will know the true meaning of peace and humility, India to the south shall crumble under its own hedonistic might, and turkmenistan to the north will feel the full force of pain as it is struck from beneath! American West is a collective people of down and out or up and out. A place to start over, yet this is not all roses, as the rest of the North American countries did not receive her sovereignty with open arms, but rather with special interest to keep the other country from expanding too large. Here on the west coast all but Mexico is mostly content or rather compromised with American West’s existence in the International community, keeping American West on her toes. Great Quebec also keeps claims, yet not to the coast. American West a Pacific Ocean power and would rather keep focused there, but this rarely allowed.

Argentina the powerhouse of the southern hemisphere, openly competes against all comers. Especially those in the south where being further from the bulk of world trade has made these southern hemisphere countries far more dependant on International Trade Guilds who boldly ply the waters in search of new markets to sell arms. ‘More arms less chance for war’, is the mantra ringing across the waves, is this but a siren song?

Australia is isolated and strong, mostly from a deluge from England in years following the fall of the English Empire. Now over a century later, fractured Houses have taken firm hold on Australian politics. Even now, friction abounds with even fellow exiles now in close by New Zealand. Polarized politics is a hotbed for friction. Mindful of the world going to arms, Australia thought to nurture visions of grandeur. Too bad her immediate neighbors all seem to be suffering with the same ideas

Austria-Hungary is central and strong, with the refusal of Napoleonic France to allow Austria and German lands to the north to unite, Austria eventually settled with joining Hungary, this in time has proved to her advantage. Believed to be the most powerful country in modern Europe she enjoys respect at the tables of the International Guilds. Thinking trade is power, she remains a voice of reason hoping that the current world climate will not lead to war. Yet one would be unwise to think she is also unwilling to go to war.

Brazil, a conglomeration the portugese colonies and some of the former collapsed powers, Brazil now takes centre stage of the South American theatre as its largest performer. Bordered by the Gran Columbia to its northwest, the Peruvian mountain men to the west and the Argentinian cattlescum to the south, all our borders seem to poke and prod. A grand show it will be when war comes to Brazil, but can its immense borders stand amongst all enemies at once? [Credit: Tribolute]

Columbia the shaky Gran Columbia of the 19th century was shaky at its best but the growing powers of the world kept reality in check to those who would try and break away. Columbia now controls the only land gate between the north and south americas, and the canal itself that connects the great oceans. A strategic position indeed, but a dangerous one from any with ambitions of control. Stuck between the growing powers of the Americas, columbia must keep its diplomacy intact and fight on as few fronts as possible. [Credit: Tribolute]

Confederate State of America born out of dispute with its predecessor union, the Confederate States of America has now become a dominant figure in North America. Meddling from the International Community helped it to be established as a legitimate country, but further meddling halted the dreams to dominate the eastern seaboard at Washington. With the Texan seperatists to the west and the lingering Republic to the north, The Confederate States must drive forward dominate the Americas, and damn those abroad who would try and stop them! [Credit; Tribolute]

Egypt has, in one way or another, been an important power on the world stage. Under the influence of the Napoleonic conquest, the current French leaders have seen this budding land as a potential contender in Africa and Arabia. They are surrounded by countries who differ with Napoleonic Egypt, but the Egyptians wish to differ with them. [Credit: Herr Neko]

Empire of Opar came upon the world as complete surprise, except of course to the Kingdom of Kongo and the Ethiopian Empire who both knew of their existence. As Kingdom of Kongo reeled and then recovered from the slave trade, so the Empire of Opar chose to remain obscure. As the institution of slavery, banned worldwide 1875 by an International Trade Guild edit, so the Empire of Opar chose to walk out of lost time and began the long road to the modern Industrial world. Spurred later by the continuing influx of disenfranchised English in what would be South Africa, the Empire of Opar knew it needed to keep up or risk, being run over by those arriving daily to the south.

Empire of Siam was the last bastion of Indochina to remain independent of foreign interests. Invading British Malaya and the Burmese Shan states, they were able to absorb Cochinchina and Cambodia into their empire through purchase and military might. However all is not secure in Siam, Yunnan to the north still controls most of Laos and Annam, and would not hesitate to move into siam proper! That is if the Cantonese Guanxi do not push through them first and think about trying to take us! Not to mention India and Indonesia would not hesitate to move into the former British possessions. Siam stands between great powers, however her front lines are well defined, and a smart general can exploit them. It may be possible to have Siam fight a many-fronted war, but the empire needs a steadfast leader. [Credit: Tribolute]

Ethiopian Empire continues to blossom, being one of oldest people yet extant from ancient past. Thought by some to even pre-date the Egyptian Pharaohs or even be the source from which migration settled India. Noting that Buddha is known as a black man, a race once united with what is now known as Ethiopia. No matter the Ethiopian Empire finds itself with new challenges in the industrialized world. Ethiopian Empire positioned as key to holding the African continent, a double-edged sword.

Federal Germany was slow to unite as one country even with help of a Napoleonic France. Leery of the civil war that brought England down the Germans were persuaded to draw a border south, north and east. The west being drawn by France and new Flanders. There were still many who thought it better to join with Austria to the south. However, French interests feared this and instead encouraged Austria to join with Hungary thinking the union would prove less of a threat. Federal Germany is healthy and prosperous, maybe too much so from wantonly stockpiling while nearby countries all along the north are experiencing shortages. Determined to their own future and prosperity, they like most in Europe have steadily begun to arm themselves. Federal Germany is noted for supporting an independent Africa and tensions with Italy and Iberian are well known. Traditional friends of France, they remain skeptical of allowing Flanders to grow so powerful, but more fear the Austria-Hungary as possibly emerging as the next master of Europe

Finland is a nation formed from a weakened Scandinavia. After the “seizure” of Norway by Scotland, Finland saw Scandinavia as an overlord and a small revolt was started. Bloody suppression of the revolt however only inflamed the revolt, and within a small matter of time the Finns were getting arms from the Russians and Germans and were able to fight Scandinavian heavy forces. As the trade guilds started supporting Finland more and more, a dovish government was formed in Scandinavia. Not long after that, the dovish government was replaced and the “traitors” were executed. For a new Finland, this doesn’t bode well and Finland and Scandinavia have been militarized the boarder, only time will tell who becomes victorious. :D [Credit GeneralHannibal]

Flanders is the child of Napoleonic France, sobered by near defeat at Waterloo and later fully vindicated by the complete collapse the English Empire. Main combatant in the English civil war when Scotland rebelled, ally and friend of Scotland they took and occupied all of south England for decades before settling with London two adjoining provinces as their own national provinces. This however, has proved to be problematic, as the English will not settle down, nor do Scottish like them on the Isles. Perched across the channel and continentally neighbors to France and Federal Germany, Flanders position is worsening. Of late, their economy suffers from a long run poor showing in International dealings.

France; With defeat of British at Waterloo, fortunes remained solid for France, yet the sentiment to be an empire waned. Faced with ever-continuing unrest at home Napoleon generally kept to the French borders. However, he kept a firm hand in international politics helping to found Flanders and fuel the civil war in England that was to follow close on the heels of English defeat at Waterloo. Encouraging international free trade at all costs, French foreign meddling worldwide helped consolidate larger countries for the sake of being better trading partners. No longer did French armies march across Europe, but French traders and foreign trade ambassadors seen by many as far worse in the end did. No matter France finds herself as one the most powerful and prosperous in 1930, but has now to look at even former friends as possible new enemies in a world climate of heavily armed furious international trade guilds

Greater Korea Greater Korea has managed to stay independent of Japanese invaders and even push her back to the Primorsk lands. But that is not to say Japan is the only enemy of Korea. Mongolia is mighty and shows itself thus, they may seek to claim the empire they never created. Japan stews on its islands, waiting for an opportunity to expand into asia, and Korea stands directly in the way. Peoples China sits and screams maniacal political views at us, but Korea would be naive to expect the bite to be any less as sharp as the bark. Korea will prevail though, the balance of Ying and Yang brings forward a Greater Korea, and one that will only continue to be as great! [Credit: Tribolute]

Greater Quebec; Collapse of the English Empire early 1800’s brought French Quebec back to swift power as Great Quebec. Great Quebec failed to secure any west coast ports and was rather more polarized to Europe having a dominant power there as France as older brother. Great Quebec suffers from an economy locked in the north. In a world prejudiced to trade this has presented problems both at home and abroad.

Greece an acknowledge ancient land has cleverly kept the Ottoman Empire just one step away. Tired of this vigilance there is even loose talk of taking a more aggressive stand and not just by hosting the best Trade Guild either. Competition wonderful when it works yet can also sour the finest grapes. Domination of the Eastern Mediterranean continues to color her political thinking, even though this often puts her at odds with Italy. Some consider Greece the reckless player in Europe who eyes neighbors to the north as readily east or west. Where is Alexander when you need him most?

Guangxi Clique: The provinces around the city known as Canton had always developed itself as seperate to china by culture and language, especially with French colonialism. The French have since left but that doesn't mean Guanxi must now grovel to any of the mandarins! Guanxi now looks to expand its borders under its sphere of influence, specifically into the inferior chinese cultures to the north and the gulf of tonkin to the south. Cantonese culture and strength should prevail over inferior nationalists, yunnanese opium dealers and siamese freaks that would threaten to bring down all she has built. [Credit: Tribolute]

Iberia came to be one country on the heels of the English defeat at Waterloo. Napoleon determined to have the last word, eliminated both Spain and Portugal with one stroke, yet now no thinks ill of the arrangement as Iberian power grows even to possibly challenge France herself. Maybe, for to the south is still the North African Alliance another child of Napoleonic France thinking to hem in Africa and other European powers with a singular political stroke. In a world of International Trade Guilds, the pen was more potent than the sword, at least it seems that way.

India is the current Titan of the East, large and wealthy with a better government than most. As long as China keeps distracted with itself, India’s fortunes may continue unhampered. Yet most agree India would be unwise to turn her back for large is also difficult to protect. With long coasts and fierce neighbors to the west, north and east she can ill afford to slumber.

Indonesia welded together in response to the influx of Europeans generally, however more pointedly with help from Flanders as the displaced English arrived in the millions throughout Australia, New Zealand and further away South Africa. Anxious to preserve sovereignty they opened their arms to many a trade guild. This proved less than desirable as time went by, yet as with the whole world, they nonetheless flung forward to the Industrial Age. An unbending and relentless Age of profit and culture blending, Indonesia may have been at first reluctant, they have however lately sought to establish themselves as the legitimate dominant power in the area. Of course, the Philippines and Empire of Siam both have now the same agenda. Who will prevail?

Italy first cut apart and then put back together by Napoleon, became a staunch neutralist. Cut off from expanding into Africa or lately even the Balkans despite keeping many claims alive in International court, sit and muse the world heading into darkened waters. Italy remains one of the few countries worldwide to keep troops locked down on her shores despite protest from trade guilds who claim this is counter productive of arms profit itself. Not trusting ones neighbors considered ill omen, yet hypocrisy is everywhere on the rise. As the world appears to be on the verge of setting fire, will Italy be able to keep neutral or will she build an empire again as of old?

Japan’s expansion plans remain stinted by fierce foes on every side. Still holding lands north of Greater Korea however, the Mongol Empire eyes them with determination. Warmer ports on the Pacific are a great asset and something Japan is mindful to keep protected. The first to make modern contact with what was long considered an extinct peoples spread across the Pacific Ocean, Japan is content to keep closer tabs on a fractured China. Japan sports a strong economy and taunts claims, many considered ill mannered. Japan holds key position in the International Trade Guilds, thus her claims have been honored, if only nominally

Kazakia broke from Russia and these fierce Kazaks are not assimilated, though as a country they are not sanctioned by the International Trade Guilds and hold no rights therein. Kazakia endures claims and hostilities from the Mongolian Empire to the East and a belligerent Turkish peoples to the south, themselves also suffering the same fate from being ‘unacknowledged’ by the International community. Yet black market arms continue to keep them apace the now burgeoning arms race worldwide. Kazakia isolated and poor by world standards remains divided between joining Russia and going it alone.

Kingdom of Kongo was once the hardest place in the world to get into, or at least get out of alive in the same trip. Since the devastating slave trade and the return, the hardened peoples from the jungle have adopted a more modern style of life, industry and most of all, warfare. Now united under King Mutara III Rudahigwa, one of their own, the Kingdom looks to expand its rightful borders. The most likely candidate would be the Empire of Opar, stretching down the totality of the eastern border. They may have evaded the slave trade, but they'll be damned if they ever get through the Kongolese that easily. South Africa to the south is an insult to all africans, an English depository that must be eradicated from this continent if it ever were to be pure. The Nigerians to the north must not be ignored, as their ambitions are not missed by our eyes. [Credit: Tribolute]

Mexico lost her breakaway province of what is now Texas, yet she continued to contend for control of Southwest North America, especially the rich valley of southern California. A line of sorts was finally drawn in the south Rockies in what is still native lands quick to rebel, something still true in Oklahoma so far as concerns Texas, yet despite the volatility the area is still valuable. Of late it is the newcomer American West supported by waves of migration from around the world. Mexico controls south California and holds firm claims on the rest, a tinderbox that dozens of International mediations have failed to resolve fully. Mexico strongly positioned to challengers both North and South, yet many still hope for peaceful solutions.

Mongal Empire; With untimely death of Ghangis Khan the western expansion of the Mongol Empire lost steam, though not before making all their neighbors enemies. The heirs of the empire in a heated debate elected to consolidate rather than wildly expand, this though not out of wisdom so much but being superstitious of recent events that led to their glorious leader’s death. Mongol Empire now as modern as any other on earth thanks to the near all powerful international trade guilds and cartels who would build anything anywhere so long as profit could be squeezed is still in a hard position being stretched over large area in eastern Asia exposed on many fronts.

Nationalistic China; The whole of China now at peace still suffers from recent civil strive. Nationalistic China still believes it carries the place of the being the true and real China. Rightful inheritor of tradition both past and future, however, this is not yet fore ordained as ‘other Chinas’ also see themselves as the proud carrier of this cherished responsibility. Beware, beware!! Sleep not, enemies abound north, west, south and close across the stormy waters…

New Zealand has for a long time lived on the edge of international awareness. Finally after consolidation of island assets, NZ is now feel ready to take on her neighbours. Due to NZ's natural isolation, she has only to contend with a few neighbouring enemies at a time in her growth as a superpower. Pacific Fire and Australia both feel that New Zealand has grown too aggressive and are ready to counter her attempts to gain regional dominance. (Credit: therev)

Nigerian Empire sits in what would look like an unimportant position, only barely brisking the borders of countries that would concentrate their efforts elsewhere. And that is the best position it could ever be in! To strike at the underbelly of the North African Alliance, or Egypt while they are off fighting distant wars would lead to devastating victories for Nigerian expansion. Ethiopia may mount a defense, but there Nigerian bravery can prevail. The Liberians may lock horns, but their talk is cheap, and Nigerian arms are believed to be more than a match for former slaves; let them come if they dare, however beware arrogance can lead to disaster. The Kongolese sit in their jungle hideaways and would not dare to show face to face! Nigerian Empire is too mighty for any too take notice, and Nigeria will take this notice to them at the end of the gun! [Credit: Tribolute with editing by Yukala]

North African Alliance was created when several rebellious Italian generals started a revolt in Italys colonial possessions in Africa. Now NAA is official country with a decent army, vast manpower reserves and capable industrial strength. But future isn't all rosy to these newcomers. Iberia across the Gibraltar is hungry to restore the former glory of Spain, Egypt to the east is as dangerous as 5 thousand years ago and both Republic of Liberia and Empire of Nigeria are just waiting for right moment to strike. And Italy is not too happy with recent events in her former colonies, either. [Credit: EvilSanta]

Ottoman Empire continues to be blessed with an excellent central location between Europe, Asia and Middle East and then with Africa not so far south. This location is favored by many of the cartels who make their ports home, next to Greece no place seems so favored. However, with friction between the trade guilds rising, what was a stabilizing blessing looms as a recipe for disaster. A central location in a world in all out war is indeed a dangerous proposition. Some in the Ottoman Empire keenly sense this and advocate a large professional army in full mobilization. Unfortunely this itself may lead to beginning of the end… Or so the prophets preach……..

Pacific Fire are the true masters of the oceans. United from all island tribes of Polynesian Melanesian and Micronesian, with the combined maratime skill the Pacific Fire is a deadly foe for any country barely touching the Pacific. With its powerful navy it can strike at any of the countries that might challenge the island supremacy. Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Empire of Siam, Yunnan, Phillipines, China, Greater Korea, Japan, Mongol Empire, The American West, Mexico, Columbia and Peru all united could not even dent the might of the Pacific Fire. And each one divided shall feel the might of Pacific Fire raining down upon their unguarded coastlines and plunder shall be there for the taking! [Credit: Walter Model]

Peoples China: The enemy of the proletariat is clear, all those who are not under her! Surrounded by dogs who would seek to destroy her superior ideals and purely equal citizens People's China must not only defend her borders at all costs, but bring the pure ideals and educate the poor masses in the capitalist systems that surround her. Onward with the revolution, in all directions charge! [Credit: Tribolute]

Persia has always been a land of great civilisation and expansion. Alexander may have defeated a persia long ago, but the new persia is new and should be dominants of the middle east. Persia has laid its independence for hundreds of years, and in that time not much has changed. But now is the time for change, new weapons, new ideals, new warfare, now is the time for a new Persian Empire! The Ottomans to the west are a dwindling empire, a sign of the old order and their time has long expired. Turkmenistan looks to show its muscles, but muscles are nothing in the face of persian guns! Afghanistan speaks as if they were the Greeks themselves, well then perhaps its time for a true revenge. And the Saud's across the red sea are weak enough prizes. The Persian empire had left its mark on the ancient world, and now it will leave the new world scorched! [Credit: Tribolute]

Peru: The Andes have been the birth of the real south american civilization. The Incan heritage of conquest and power lives on through the modernised nation. The Peru-Bolivian confederation only lived on because of the huge powers that surrounded her, but now is cemented forever together. Numerous border wars have left her in somewhat of an overextended position. Facing a war to any number of the other three powers of South America, Peru must tread lightly, but burst down on any that gets in her way. From down the mountains Peru will be the dominant one, as she has before, and will forever more. [Credit: Tribolute]

Philippines: Following the napoleonic wars and the collapsing of all other colonial powers, the phillipines have finally had a chance to claim their own Independence. But since when does independence stop at home. Powers in the region would again threaten the phillipines own right to exist, and must take action. Pacific Fire would threaten with their navy, while the former colonies Indonesia and Australia to the south have their own vested interests and may seek to expand northward after one decimates the other. The chinese warlords and siam may also have an interest in controlling the Phillipines as a base to attack each other. The Phillipines is at the centre of vying powers, so she must play a game of diplomacy while preparing for war. [Credit: Tribolute]

Poland early secured a year around port just north of Prussia, though Federal Germany keeps demands thereupon. Poland is a strong and stable power in central Europe at the border of Russia. Long run prosperity has brought Poland into fore at many a Trade Conference adding to her feeling of well being. This however may be a little naïve as unrest continues to mount throughout the world. She often concurs with her neighbor Austria-Hungary whom she sees as keeping Federal Germany in check whenever a dispute aired at trade talks. This deference could cause problems with other neighbors. Here caution may be better than appearing to take sides.

The Republic of America is born on the heels of the sudden death of Abraham Lincoln just before he was sworn into office as President of the then United States of America which included everything to just pass the Mississippi River. The Federal Government of USA unable to whether the fall out of Confederate States breaking off as a separate and independent country and unwilling to prosecute a civil war in the face International support for CSA once they declared they would eliminate slavery over the ensuing ten years. Out maneuvered and leaderless at the wrong time, the Confederates seized Washington D.C. preemptively. France agreed to step in and took control of the capitol until both countries could reorganize. The Federal Government soon collapsed and the remaining states in the North became the Republic of America and established their capitol back where the Republic was first born, Philadelphia.

Republic of Liberia: The slave trade of africans was widespread across the world, and impossible for those freed slaves whoever wanted to return to find any root in the land they were torn away from. This was the purpose of Liberia, to be a home for those who wanted to return. But it has since become a power willing to go further forward. The Mali have already succumbed to the true power with those out for vengence, the Nigerians to the east look a ripe target, and the north african alliance will be too distracted with the wars against the colonial powers to notice a quick strike. In any case, the sins of the past against Liberian peoples will be revenged against any and all who helped or stood by. Vengence is power, power is Liberian! [Credit: Tribolute]

Romania is a nation. Those words in themselves bring joy to the small republic, after centuries of Hungarian, Russian and Ottoman oppression, being a free independent nation would almost seem enough for the small Republic. If only that were true. There are still Romanians left under foreign rule, and Romania can never be in a position to be invaded again. The Ukraine to the north stands steadfast, but is nowhere near invincible. The Austro-Hungarian empire holds our true Romanians that must be liberated! The Yugoslavians pathetic dreams for a pan-Slavic state may bring them in contention with us, and must be culled. The Ottomans and Greeks both see themselves as rulers of Bulgaria, but will never take hold of the sovereignty of Romania. Independent Romania will stay that way, and be forever great. [Credit: Tribolute]

Russia though healthy, ambitious now and thinking to expand again east and perhaps south, yet she misunderstands the times, every country thanks to the International Trade Guilds has teeth and though large, even the Russian Bear should be cautious in this climate. For Russia, the country created from the little Principality of Muscowy. Once formed, hardened it's rule on Tver and eventually annexed Ryazan and Novgorod, throwing in with the Novgorodian Hanseatic merchants in the process making Moscow the new trade center. Also, it's ex-ruler the Golden Horde fell soon after along with Kazan so Ivan III of Russia had freed his country from mongolian rule, forever. Over the years they had steadily conquered lands in Poland-Lithuania and expanded eastwards, considerably, ending in reducing Poland reaching the other side of the world. However internal civil strive forced Russia to give up much of this expansion helping to re-establish nations of Poland, Ukraine, Finland, Kazakia, Turkmenistan, and enormous amounts of territory back to Mongol Empire. After this worldwide humiliation the nation decided to keep low for the time being so as to attempt to conceal it, and as things were getting back to normal issued what can only be described as the greatest economic twist in history. The 'Russian Economic Twist' which aimed to industrialise the country and get it on par with the other nations. By August 17, 1929 this was complete and now was the time for Russia to turn away from her past and start fresh once again. [Credit: Walter Model]

Saudi Arabia first came to the world stage after the Franco-Ottoman War in which it split from the ottomans influence and consolidated its borders. The discovery of rare new resources brought foreign interest to the new Arabian country, while profiting the world it damaged the Arabian peoples, and the Sauds came to power to drive foreign merchants out, but keep their equipment. The Sauds since, have modernised the country and brought it to a standard in which it can even face off against the belligerant powers against it. With its back to the sea, can Saudi Arabia compete in the new wars for the middle east? [Credit: Tribolute]

Scandinavia is again due to a Napoleonic Trade Guild Europe, but seethes over the favor given the Scottish with the Norway coastline. Denmark for Norway was still a good deal. Holding the Estonia coast was another favor, yet Scandinavia still considers her options as the world heads for what appears to be a war of opportunity as some so speculate. Scandinavia keen on both profits and possible expansion keeps her neighbors watchful with both eyes open.

Scotland rose to power soon after the triumph of Napoleon at Waterloo, England faced with renewed economic difficulties from a collapsed economy and a sober but vigilant Napoleon, fell to in-fighting which at first was political normalcy, but with unexplained assassinations of key figures and foreign money influences, Scotland saw its chance and rebelled on the basis of asserting a corrupt London. At first Ireland joined in, then new Flanders, while French kept their hand cloaked. After early successes, Scotland double-crossed Ireland, which keeps Scotland's hold on the Isles fragile. Flanders took all of Southern England in the civil war, but with a French brokered peace, only half of that kept. Scotland with ancient ties to the old Viking coast soon asserted its dominion over western Scandinavia. Scotland is currently suffering from a troubled food shortage and poor showing in international trade dealings. This coupled with lingering bad relations with Scandinavia and now even former ally Flanders leaves Scotland with a rocky road ahead. Scotland also keeps claims on Greater Quebec which troubles relations both with France and Quebec.

South Africa is now the land of the exiled English. Napolean may have decimated England but never did it destroy the spirit of the English! Now this spirit is channeled into the barbaric lands of Africa. In their southern Bastion they know hold the line against the African peoples. Then again, to advance into their lands would not be too difficult. The Kongolese still reel from the slave trade industry, both in their country and in their spirit. The Empire of Opar resents our presence as much as any, but resentment will not beat the might of the arms of South Africa. Glory will be obtained for all those who go out to seek it! [Credit: Tribolute]

Texas failed to join the union by a mere vote. The break away from Mexico remained troublesome as Mexico still held lands to the west. With this, friction in the South continued to rise with the North, but not just the North. World sentiment headed to common ground and open trade was taking a firm dim view of slavery. Texas is centrally located in North America and enjoys good trade with all, yet also is vulnerable with possible hostilities in a 360-degree circle. Failing to take sides in dispute between North and South, rather allowed world opinion carry the day. Texas for Texas is their motto. A motto fine for sunny days, but in a world headed for bad weather?

Tibet surrounded by aggressive neighbours the peace loving peoples of Tibet have turned their mountain fortress into the land of the fighting Bhuddist monks! In fact Tibet now feels confident enough to export their peace loving ways to the world - even if the world is not ready for them! Strategic and tactical skill are needed for the Peoples of Tibet to triumph. [Credit: therev]

Turkemenistan grew from the east-west trade links since the dawn of time. Many invaders have come through these lands and all have left or been killed. The troubles of the Turkic people are not yet over, united as they may be. Kazakia to the north may not be recognised by any other country but that makes them no less ferocious. Afghanistan and Persia to the south have been nibbling away at Turkmenistan over the years, of course sanctioned by foreign powers, their time will come to pay their rightful dues. And to the east and west, Mongols and Russians respectfully stand positioned in attempt to flood Turkic lands with troops. Let them all come, and see the true power of the beast to be unleashed. [Credit: Tribolute]

Ukraine has been an important centre between the east and west, and Kiev itself is the traditional heart of the russians. However the modern world treats the Ukraine with contempt. Its size is small enough to be targeted but never enough to be conquered. The Ukraine now stands at a crossroads, with inevitable war coming, choices must be made. Russia which hems the north and eastern borders will inevitably clash with us, but is foolish enough to fight all at once, so spoils must be quick to gain. The romanians to the south-west threaten us at controlling the black sea. And the Poles to the west, consolidated with dominating the lithuanians and belorussians hold our Ukrainian peoples hostage and they must be freed, but at an appropriate time that is not yet ours. In any fortune, Ukraine must lash forward against the waning powers that surround her and secure itself as overseer of the black sea. [Credit: Tribolute]

United Provinces of America have stood on the thinnest points of the great American continents, and it is a perilous position that keeps the shaky Union together. Mexico to the north west may serve us well, as they will be distracted with other wars further up with Texas and California, who would each pose a perilous position if they defeated mexico. Columbia to our south west not only deserves to cede the canal, but deserves attention to prevent them charging into Union lands, or intervening in Carribean possessions. The Confederate States and Texas in the same light will also attempt to interfere in Carribbean control. This is a perilous position if any country were to take control of the Americas, but an even better position to advance forward into either continent. [Credit: Tribolute]

Yugoslavia is a dream of what could be. That is, a state for all Slavs to be united under one banner, and one leader! Unfortunately many have stood in the way of our rightful progress! Greece sits beneath and seeks to annex more rightful Slavic lands. Romania sits to the east and despises Yugoslavias existance. Italy looks on and drools at the Dalmatian coastline. But the largest purveyor of filth is Austria-Hungary. They sit on Croatia and Slovenia and mock Yugoslavian claims. If it weren't for the trade guilds power they would have tried to take all Slavs completely. Let them come, Yugoslavia will show them the true meaning of Slavic pride, and take all lands rightly belonging to her. [Credit: Tribolute]

Yunnan was formed by ambitious warlord Lung Yun during the Chinese civil war to the southernmost part of old Empire of China. Yunnan is a country with many opportunities but also many enemies. Nationalist China to the north is willing to reunite China and massive India lies to the west, anxiously awaiting right moment to strike. Only time will tell if Lung Yun attempt will succeed or will Yunnan be annexed back to China. :D [Credit: EvilSanta]

You could add to that Finns are the most awesome people ever walked on earth. :p

You just had to put that *addnamehere* there

So I entered Risk mod and the name I was looking for is Lung Yun, you might wanto to put that one instead of *addnamehere*

By the way, it seems Yunnan starts out with negative manpower and money. Any reason for that or is it just a bug?

Thanks ! :)

I will post that name.
You are referring to Beta2 I presume; negative manpower was abandoned in Beta3. ALL countries start with 600 manpower. The negative money remains for every country though more reduced. Yunnan is now -20. The reason for this is to hedge against money trades with AI's early game.

New Zealand done, thanks therev !
