Rise of Bulgaria

However, weakened 14th-century Bulgaria was no match for a new threat from the south, the Ottoman Turks, who crossed into Europe in 1354. In 1362 they captured Philippopolis (Plovdiv), and in 1382 they took Sofia. The Ottomans then turned their attentions to the Serbs, whom they routed at Kosovo Polje in 1389. In 1393 the Ottomans occupied Turnovo after a three-month siege. It is thought that the south gate was opened from inside and so the Ottomans managed to enter the fortress. In 1396 the Kingdom (Tsardom) of Vidin was also occupied, bringing the Second Bulgarian Empire and Bulgarian independence to an end.

So as most of probably already have guessed, I'm giving Bulgaria a shot and will make an AAR about my adventures with this country at the Black Sea. To start this game I will either have to realse Bulgaria as Ottomans, Conquer Ottoman Empire or simply create revolutions and cheat with cash as any christian realm. More of that will be told in the upcomming first update of Rise of Bulgaria!

Chapter I

Independence

Hello, I am Kalojan and I have lured to Georgian King to lend me money for an Orthodox Christian Revolution trough all of Greece.
Instead I will use the money to get my fathers throne back. See I have already started...

Look at those Ottomans, bissy fighting some Khan to the east. So there is just this defence line to keep the revolution from
reaching Greece, but they blockades me from gaining Nis. I hope that Khan wont sign a peace and spoil my great fight for Bulgaria.

At last is Bulgaria free again. For 7 years I have traveled around the courts of Europe seeking a Christian
still intrested in throwing the Muslims out of Greece. And look at that Red Colour that shows this is my country.
Now I could die happy if I only had a heir.

- Silence! I wonder where I can ............... A SON!?!

Apperantly we stole alot of Ottoman Technology and there was this paper about a National Idea,
it even had a check list with bonuses and such for the diffrent Ideas. So now my realm will get more money,
so we can raise an army to defend us from all kind of evil things, like dragons and kebob.

On the 21 April 1408, Kalojan II Domagojevic of Bulgaria dies because of high age. His son is barely 4 years old
and wont arise to the throne for 11 years. May God have mercy!

Chapter II

Petar the Great

After 15 peacefull and unintresting years, Petar can claim his throne and become Petar III of Bulgaria.

He seems like a quite good king, doesnt he?

To the North there is Wallachia, an easy prey for the well trained Bulgarian Army, or well.... it had been 15 years ago.
Now they are all lazy and old. I need to control more land to be able to beat the Ottomans. It time to conquer more land for the glory of Bulgaria.

War is coming!

It was a short war, were the Wallachian army marched south and had problem with take a single province, while the Bulgarian Army captured Oltenia and Wallachia in no time.

Hungarian Agression

Bulgaria was a better place to live since Petar had claimed Wallachia.

Look, even the Austrians think we are a worthy country. Or they maybe just wanted to secure Europe against the Ottomans.

I am allied with Austria, I am not afraid!

Im not afraid!

Hungary declares war against me, they are for sure after my newly counquered lands. On the posetive side both Austria and Byzantium
joins on my side and Hungary has no allies. Even if its scary that they have annexed my former friend Transylvania.

Petar marched norh with his army into Transylvania. Around the same time the Byzantium forces reached Banat.
The Austrian army which were well trained and already had been invading from west before, started to tear down castle afte castle.
And to make it even worse, Ruthenian Patriots in Northern Hungary wanted to re-unite with the bretheren in Ukraine.

After some years of crushing the splinters of an once proud army, Petar signed a peace treaty with the Hungarian king.

This cant end well....

Hungary silenced, Wallachia conquered! Nothing can stop me!

Okey, except that but come on, I cant have that bad luck already, can I?

My grand alliance is out numbered, wait......


They have no fleet

I guess they lost in the long war against the Algerian Sultanate. I wonder if I should send him a gift for this....

More good news, seems like the Timurids had warned Otto and saw their chance.

Moldavia: Acting as my shield against the Golden Horde, giving me the advantage of not being invaded by a Uhlan moving south.

Croatia: Completly crushing Bosnia with the help of the Transylvanians.

Byzantium: Apperantly they had a few province down to the south, so instead of a Islamic invasion from the North against me, its an Christian invasion from the South against the Ottomans.

Timurids: I will remember this, though I hardly think my kings will know where that place is.

Austria: I wish I knew what those guys were up to......


So all alone in Greece, there is these small armies of barely 1,000 Soldiers. And with the Bosporus blocked by the small Bulgarian navy and the Byzantium navy, there is no way for the Ottomans to move soldiers to Europe. But I think they got Mongol hordes invading from the east to worry about.

And there we creates a better opportunity to re-take Nis.

Seems like the Austrians are all carried away with battling the Holy Roman Emperor.
