maybe you have read too much Asterix comics because IIRC it didnt happen that way, even in Greece (to the guy who talked about Greece and the cruelty of the roman soldiers)...but google the name T. Quinctius Flamininus (spelling ?) and learn some real history for once.

How about you get a sense of humor and realize when somebody is being somewhat facetious? That sounds good to me.

If you had bothered to read the discussion afterwards you would be worth talking to... since you very cleary didn't I won't respond further.

Maybe you should google the names Lucius Mummius Achaicus or PC Scipio Aemilianus?

anal

You people can be so ANAL about CRAP that doesn't matter.. for example

"You lack a certain nuance in your analysis of the Gallic Wars. First of all Rome did not "smash" the Gallic tribes. Indeed up until the revolt eventually led by Vercengetorix Rome had occupied the whole of Gaul by allying itself with most of the tribes. I think you are making the mistake of thinking that Caesar set off to conquer Gaul and made war on all of Gaul to occupy it. It is a common misconception but is simply wrong."

Who the hell cares! I come to this forum to get ideas about gameplay and half the time there is a discussion like this! If you people want to argue about crap like this go to a forum about history... Here, let me assist you with a google for "ROMAN history forum"

something I'd actually like to see changed from EU:III to EU: Rome is a differentiation between a country's core provinces and the provinces from which a country can revolt...in EU:III by treaty you could reduce Russia to a single core province...any later revolts will only form Russia if it happens to be in that single province...and that's silly.

Indeed, I hope they change that.

There should be a seperation between proper ownership (can be achieved via spies... and via border disputes)

and actual cultural intergration (cores). Some documents made by a spy shouldn't allow me to recruit English troops in India. So you couldn't just give up cores with a peace treaty under any circumstances.

In the current game engine though... it'd be nice if you couldn't negotiate away cores on same culture provinces.

Some people pick the oddest things to get upset about. You might have noticed this thread started out with historical observations which developed into further historical debate which in turn sparked a good lively discussion - particularly by internet standards.

Nothing to complain about here - please move along.
